Tools needed- air bag release tool (or small enough flathead), 8mm socket, 21mm socket, steering wheel puller (or hammer), T25 star bit and screwdriver
Thanks for this video, I think this gave me all the info I need to replace the lights inside the steering wheel controls for the radio, with this knowledge I think I might be able to work around the air bag and not have to disconnect it to access what I need, Now to look for replacement bulbs.
After airbag deployment and exchange you also will need to remove the airbag module from under passenger seat and send it into third party to get reflashed to vehicles VIN. Then use a scanner to erase airbag light. Scanner will never erase hard airbag codes even at the dealership. Also remember that when airbag light is on your airbag(s) will NOT deploy.
Hey say I wanted to switch from just an plan steering wheel in my 05 to one with radio controls so I have to buy anything else on will it work? Just asking if any one knows.
I tried this & could NOT get the tool to work did just as you did & nothing, the springs did not release the tool; bent a little but nothing would move like everything was stuck tried for 2hrs....what could be the problem???
Got a stereo from junk yard. Can i unlock it without pulling the chip, the reset steps I've tried don't work, assuming that's because the stereo isn't the original one for my 04 Grand Prix Gt...
Only way I got it to work was the chip. But I didn't even have to remove it. Just desolder the top left 2 pins from the board and then it'll remember your presets and unlock it. I put my 04 gtp radio in my 05 base and it works like a charm.
