Nice, I am getting ready to do this on my 03 Camry. I went with the KYB struts.

Good try, with some good points. Like this one: using an Allen wrench if there are issues getting the nut off the sway bar link. Other vids I've seen recommend using a pair of vise-grips to hold the ball joint bolt in place. Which doesn't really work all that well when the nuts and link are older - and rusting together. The bad side. Believe in safety much, do ya? Use jack stands. Always. Especially for how-to videos where somebody who DOESN'T know anything might do it the way you did it. Never rely on the jack alone. More, but not safety: best way to take pressure off the sway bar links to remove them is to jack BOTH sides up (insert jack stands). That takes the pressure off the sway bar, and voila, link removal is easy. No forcing necessary. Next, figure out what the appropriate name for a tool is. Reshoot, or edit out errors and pauses. Like getting the rear seat out. Or like identifying an Allen wrench. Sometimes, less commonly, called an Allen key, or a hex key. Good luck - and stay safe.

Yeah I ended up applying a liberal amount of MAP gas (melting the rubber) and using vise grips and a breaker bar to get that ball joint nut where the Allen key should have worked. The female allen key edges were rounded off and I could t get it to budge. Hopefully the other side breaks free more easily.

@@IronChef60 inspect the existing ball joint closely. The brend I just put in also has flats on the inside, so you can get an open-end wrench on it to hold it. And if you haven't sprayed penetrating oil on, a day in advance, do that.

bolts for the struts should be metric?
@Boostjunki84
@Boostjunki84 10 месяцев назад
The top bolt of the 2 that hold the strut at the bottom are a different size than what yours were in the video. I was able to get the nut off, but the bolt won't budge. Any advise. Can I tap with a hammer?
@2EZEverything

I would leave the nut on and just back it off till it is flush with the end of the bolt then hammer it until it can’t go any further then take the nut off then if the bolt is still too stuck to slide out use a punch and hammer to continue driving it through. Hope that helps.

Are there any bolts in this assembly that require a specific ft-lbs of torque (i.e. need a torque wrench)?
@2EZEverything
@2EZEverything 11 месяцев назад
No a torque wrench isn’t needed to do this job

@@2EZEverythingafter doing this repair, I noticed a rattle from the back of the vehicle when I was driving, especially braking. I checked the lug nuts, they were tight, so I looked at another video and found that the sway bar links needed to be torqued to 27 ft-lbs. Once I did that, the rattle was gone. I assume my sway bar link ball joints were too loose and that was causing the rattling. Just putting this here in case someone else runs into this issue. Torque setting found at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9lN1FuhsdP0.html
