It's time. Do this. Plant your garden. It doesn't matter if you have no back yard or 1000 acres, it is time. We all need to get back to the way it was supposed to be. Start your garden. Start your homestead. Homesteading doesn't have to mean lots of land. Homesteading starts with a mindset of being more conscientious of where your food and resources are coming from. Grow your family, and grow a garden. You're not getting any younger, Hopefully, you're getting wiser though. Look at the signs, they're telling you this one thing. You're going to need to be more resourceful, you're going to need to work a little harder, and you will definitely need a more secure source of food.
In this video we plant our garden. We start by grading the area of our field with the box blade on our Massey Ferguson 1835E. We then use t-posts with cattle panels to create trellises for our vegetables to grow.
We are planting tomatoes, cucumbers, potatoes, garlic, onions, chives, jalapeños, herbs, and beneficial flowers to help ward off pests and to attract the pollinators.

The warnings have been uttered, the offers have been made for the last few years. If covid and associated changes haven't gotten through to people, oh well. There are those of us who aren't the fear and doom preppers, but common sense self-providers out here. The challenge now is to discern who can be depended on and be "neighbors" even if counties and states away, and who are doing "homesteading" as long is it's semi-popular fad. Keep up the good hard work, you got another generation watching..

Exactly. I have wanted to do this for as long as I can remember. I just didn’t know it had a name. Have you read the book “folks, this ain’t normal”?

with the garden, some chickens and a Lawn Moo'er or two I'd imagine you'll be pretty well set for any food shortages you may see; and in the meantime your grocery bills will plummet.

Grocery prices are insane.

With a few boards from your sawmill (even ones that you couldn't/wouldn't otherwise use) and some deck screws, you could easily make potato towers. I've had pretty good luck with the towers... Any plans for a root cellar?

Root cellar for sure. I was thinking of doing a potato tower but I was reading they don’t work great. Funny that you have had a good experience
