89-2010.....Best time of my life....traveled the world, met some wonderful people....ate like a champ~~now in my late 50s....still feel good, but my body disagrees~
Shower shoes.....Back packs.....Tennis Shoes.......Back in 1986 we only got boots, black dress shoes, BDU's and Blues, name tags, White T-Shirts and Underwear. Also.......BTW.......we were yelled at from day 1 to day 41!!
I graduated from Lackland on February 21st of this year and I was a dark knight! The 324th training squadron baby, alcatraz! 🔥 Big shoutout to Tsgt Harris! He iis what made the experience so wonderful for me and my flight! As dorm chief, it was wonderful learning under his wing! 🪽
We were one of the first flights to do integrated flights. We lived in seperate dorms, but when we formed up in the morning it was males and females. I think it's good because you work with women a lot in the actual air force. It wasn't the best when everyone had a crush on someone tho. Took away from training at times
I was in an integrated flight, it was a really cool experience. Graduated BMT recently. February 23rd to be exact! I was a dark knight, 324th training SQ !! 🔥
@@NotSaud-h1e There is a saying in my language that fits this guy perfectly. I will try to translate: "Cows miss the pastures they got f.ked on the most"
Biggest tip I have is don't be discouraged day one. Everyone, and I mean everyone thinks they made the worst decision of their life when they first arrive to bmt. Just keep in mind that the actual operational air force is nothing like bmt. Oh also have fun!
@@tylersirko5959 I’ve seen this question on every video about basic. No one ever answers. Either they can’t (too busy) or they don’t want to (not busy). I’d love an answer but we won’t get one.
3:00 The guy in the air force shirt on the left was told by someone to wear that shirt. he was the special one and got the extra attention he deserved.
Don't let it stop you! I had someone in my flight in bmt, he couldn't do a pushup before he went to meps. His roomate at the hotel literally convinced him to try to do one and it was hard for him. He still graduated bmt in the end. I couldn't do a pull-up before I talked to my recruiter, but before I shipped off to BMT I was able to do 12 in a row because I worked on it. If weight is an issue, that can be hard and annoying to work with. I was actually underweight so I had to eat more before I joined. Never forget what the military can do for you. I have gotten to travel and see more in these past few months than I ever did in the 21 years I had before I joined. I had a shit GPA in highschool, and now I could get an education whenever I wanted. You can find your dream job in the military. If not the air force, then the army or somewhere man. Don't let your body get in the way until you talk to a recruiter. You never know, they might just take you as is
If it's a non-medical reason then you can join in. They will get you ready even if you can't do a single pushup or have a 12 minute mile. By the end you will pass.
I'm 35 going bt in April. I can only do 20 push up, 16 set up, 5 pull up, and run 11 min 30 sec a mile. Not many days left and I aint quitting. WISH ME LUCK. If I can you can too.
This looks more like a paid vacation to me coming from the Marines. The shit the marines do in chow hall is more chaos and more speed. I definitely joined the wrong branch
1:13:04 ah the purple belts I remember having a blues inspection in tech school and the entire group of us non-priors got chewed out for having purple belts.
During basic we were only allowed to say sir/ma'am to instructors during the first week of training. After that we had to specify rank to ensure everyone was familiar with rank
I have no clue, I think it's just for convenience really. The second haircut we got in week like 7 was done in an actual salon-like building. My MTI told us it weirded him out every time he saw it because it was exactly the same as it was 10-15 years ago or so.
@@celiphon3812 forceing you to wear a mask or getting vaccinated is most certainly political...they kicked out over 3,500 service members for this...they military tells you not to be political but they most certainly are!
I went through in 1992. It was not like this. These airmen are being treated with kid gloves. No yelling from the MTI. Everybody is moving around in formation. When they are eating chow they are allowed to take their sweet time. Air Force BMTS is a joke.
Guess what old timer, 1: we aren’t in a war right now and 2: 95% of these recruits are gonna go sit at a desk for 8 hours a day after BMT, not go around digging foxholes and getting into a firefight
Depends on a lot of stuff. Tech school is literally right after bmt. No joke the day after the last day of bmt you go to tech school. I didn't have a ship date until my AFSC was confirmed. That took about a week for me
Sorry wingman but your MEPS does stuff hella different than mine. Your recruiter should have a list of jobs available for the upcoming month/few weeks, and from that list you should be given a job. Unless you're job locked and you're just waiting for one specific job to be available, I'm unsure why you wouldn't have a date. By the way, I'm not saying waiting for a specific job is bad or anything, honestly if you have the option to do that, I would.@@COFFEE23409
Hi US military 🇺🇲 am Joseph okumu from Kenya am 36years old and by next year am turning 37 on march but i always desire to join the US military 🇺🇲 especially in the US 🇺🇲 Army can they recruit me with that age coz it has been my desire to be in the USA to join the military there
@@josephokumu1279 If you can get additional help you might be able to make it before you’re 39, but it will take time and money. I would call the recruiter and see if they can help you more.
@@josephokumu1279 have you tried to call them my last comment got removed but you can look up the recruiter numbers for anywhere in the US on google and speak to them
So like he said you should be able to join the airforce, but you might not be able to join the army. www.usa.gov/military-requirements here's a neat website with some information that might help. You could give that number a try to talk to a proper usaf recruiter. Be advised that I'm just a normal Airman, not a recruiting body. Also be advised that as far as I can tell you must already have some form of citizenship in the united states before you can join. @@josephokumu1279
A lot of the yelling wasn't shown on video. We had people who get yelled at by two MTIs at the same time, and all that stuff. That don't cuss you out or anything like that tho if that's an issue for you as well
Tf is this bullshit? We didn't get a calm welcome. I got there at fucking 12:00 in the morning, we were all pushed outside and our MTI approached us. It was dark as fuck and we all had our flashlights on, my MTI was tall as hell. He was intimidating. He screamed at us the whole way until we went to bed. I remember he told us to put our bags down and we all dropped them, then he screamed at us to place them on the ground, not drop them. And for some reason I heard drop them, so I dropped them. "Play with me if you want to! Drop your bag again I dare you!". That same night I couldn't meet the timeline on showers and he pointed at me and said "You are pissing me off!".
I just got done with bmt. I would not call it soft then again I was in one of the alcatraz squadrons so that may be why. For the first 3 weeks i was getting screamed at and smoked on the daily.
