My driver button broke and I just replaced the switch. Thank you!! Unfortunately the driver window still won’t roll down and now my front passenger window won’t roll down either. (It does from the passenger door) Rear windows work.
No problem! I wish it fixed your issue. It's possible the new switch you got is also broken, I don't know what switch you got or brand etc. Other possibilities are a broken wire in the slinky harness where the door connects to the car. You could try to put the old switch back in as a test to see if the passengers side works again. Since the passenger window works from that door the issue is in the driver door somewhere.
@@HackSquadGarage Thank you for replying so quickly. Your video made the replacement a breeze. I got a switch from switch doctor. I have reached out to them also and waiting to hear back. In the meantime I’ll try the old switch. Much appreciated. :)
That was just perfect!!!! My '05 outback driver switch just broke 2 days ago and I thought I'ld search for a video and this came up right away... Just perfect.
Thanks for the video! Straight forward and made it an easy fix. The little plastic panel behind the locking handle gave me some resistance and felt like it would break but it popped out like it should have. 10/10
If the switch does not self centre any more like the 1 you show, you can pop the switch off with a tiny flat screwdriver and find a small nylon pin to replace the broken sprung pin inside. Add some grease while you're at it.
@Philip Mierisch Finally, I found MacGyver. What does this small nylon pin look like & where can I get it? I would very much appreciate it. I'm convinced the Holy Spirit directed me to you as well, because I prayed earlier asking for his direction for a resolve. My car is Subaru Legacy GT 2005 JDM which is a RHD & I can't find the replacement switch on eBay or Amazon.
Stupid question but can you repair the switch itself? Have kinda of a rare subaru model and the door switch is 120$ not to say i wont spend it but rather try all available options first.
I'm having an issue with my 05 Legacy GT window switch. The little red lights stay on illuminated while the car is parked and off. It's been draining my battery overnight and making it hard to start. Do you think a replacement switch will fix the problem ? I need those lights inside the switch to go off and stay off while the car is parked. Any advice I would appreciate.
If that is the only light on in the car and it's nor the interior dimmer switch being on causing the battery to drain. Then sure there could be a short inside the switch. It's easy and cheap enough to replace the switch. Most of the aftermarket cheaper switches do not even have the lights. You may have to go oem if you want the to light up.
@@HackSquadGarage Hi i bought the LHD one, same as yours. when i tested it on my RHD it started to burn and the windows would go up and down. Had to put the old one back in for the 3 windows work.
same here, we had the issue with the Auto button- drivers side window non responsive, other windows working well. we bought the new piece, installed today yet have the same outcome. every window functioning except drivers side. @HackSquadGarage are there any next steps to take?
@@thomasperry9147 I would like to know the same thing! I've just replaced my master switch twice, one from a used auto parts store and another one from Amazon.... driver side window still doesn't work! SOS
@@yodaspank850 Hey Yoda there is another video that i found that narrows it down. Likely the issue is related to the switch breaking, then short circuiting the drivers window side MOTOR. its a motor for the window just inside the door panel. Seemingly very easy to purchase and replace. let me know if you ever decide to do it
