I wish we are back in the old days...no power doors, no power windows, no power seats...i have no problems with that..now we have to deal with all this expensive repairs to fix car electrical problems...
Yeah because you have no time. Because older generations and brainwashed new generations, think we should dedicate 3/4 of our lives at work because we have overpriced homes and cars to pay for. Rather than enjoying life and doing costly repairs ourselves. And that thinking from old generations has put most people in poverty in America.
You gave me a great troubleshooting skill for auto electrical systems in the first 4 minutes of this video. You’re a great teacher, simple and to the point. Thank you!
I understand everything u explained and will try it.... But all 4 windows are not working.... I checked fuses, checked and swapped the relay with a known good one but still nothing.... After trying your trick and it still dont work i will check for broken wires in the loom
Hello there, I have this one large 15 pin connector on the 2019 Chevy Equinox that attaches to the driver side main power window and side-view mirrors control panel switch. Only the drive side power window and side-view mirrors work but all the other windows don't. Note that only the passenger side window switch works on its own though and sometimes none of the windows work. Not sure if its the connector or the switch that is the problem or could possibly be the relay or another issue altogether. Your advise be will be much appreciated. Thanks.
Yeah, awesome video... but riddle me this, I have 2 rows of metal points to look at and like 4 of them light up when I'm looking for the power point. How do I determine which is which?
This explanation sucks. I have an 8 pin and like 4 are showing hot. What am I supposed to do if I’m not sure which one it is. You don’t explain. You just assume we know which one is operating the window.
I didn't think this would be so nerve racking but I just wanted my window to close and after studying the 6 pin connector (with only 5 wires) I was able to shunt power and the very first neutral pin got it rolled up! Hallelujah thank you for the awesome instruction! I wish I could take ASE certs under your teaching ability.
Thanks to you I was able to sleep peacefully without having to leave my window open while I look for a replacement switch for my window. You really made my day man, you changed my mood for the rest of the evening. Thanks a lot!
You sir, are a life saver. Our 2005 Sienna rear passenger window went down then refused to go back up. Using your technique I was able to force the window back up. Found out one of the rocker switch arms that moves a lever on the control board had broken off. We just plan to leave the window up for now, as it is not critical. But we were able to get it up using your tips. Thank you!!!
I tried this and messed it up I think the car is really broken now. So the right tail light is out but the brake light works same bulb. It's weird and the radio and dash doesn't light up. Fuses checked
My rear window on the drivers side isn’t working with the main window controls or the rear window control itself I changed out the main windows control still don’t work every other window works I checked fuse it good the wire harness looked like the wires are all attached but no power when I hit the rear window switch do you think it the regulator motor in the rear window? Also will I still be able to close it somehow till the part comes in ?
If theres no power getting to the motor, you need to find where you're losing it. If theres power and ground getting to the motor and it does not work - then the motor is bad. I hope this helps
Saved me a lot of money. I would have probably taken my car into a shop and if they rolled the window up and said "no charge", I would have tipped them $10. The multimeter cost me $6. So it didn't work on the first several attempts. Eventually, I put the positive probe into the slot sort of diagonally and then I got a reading of 12 volts. After that, it was just a matter of finding the correct neutral slots. Thank you so much for this video! It saved me money and a really wet seat.
This is a solution, only if the switch is bad. Operator motors contain an internal thermal link. When the thermal is beginning to go bad, and the ambient temperature is warm, the window will not operate. But the window operates when the ambient temperature is cold. Replace the Operator. The wing windows on my gen1 Sienna have broken thermal links and only operate during cold conditions. There are no aftermarket operators available for gen1 Sienna. A reconditioned operator is $285 the wing windows remain closed, while I tuned my AC to freeze me on a 100 degree day.
Help. My paper clip caught fire and now none of the window switches work. Swaped a fuse and a relay, but I still got nothing. Any idea where to look next?
Thank you! Master switch suddenly isn't working on the driver side, and I find myself in the midst of rainy season in Florida with a back passenger window that won't go up. To my mind, this means the misery of: a dreaded and expensive trip to the dealer (???), finding a local mechanic (!!!), anxiously praying for no rain today, tomorrow, or ever again (@-!-@). Hurrah, instead I stumble upon this video. It never occurred to me to just use the power switch on the passenger door. Duh! Boy did that simple suggestion and solution dramatically change my mood!! This was a perfect example of how anxiety and ignorance fixate the mind into a negative, non-thinking state. And how something so simple can become (and is) the happiest of blessings. I am grateful for the lesson(s) and the blessing! Thanks again!
My power window in my 2014 Chevy Cruze on the passenger side and drivers stopped working and my passenger window was down and rain was in the forecast. What I did was take the door panel off and cut the wire from the window motor as the contacts in the motor were to hard to get to so I put the connector plug back in. Didn't want to touch the positive and negative wires together. I spiced the wires and used my booster cable to get power to the door and had another wire connected so in order to connect that to the wires for the plugin to the motor and up the window went. Yeah I know drastic but I had to do this in a hurry. It started raining about 10 minutes later.
Thanks, my master switch is having issues, and after thinking it I got it working, it crapped out after a minute with the window partway down. This helped get the window back up, cause the car manual I was using was no help.
So I did the trick, got my windows up...bought a new switch and still can't get the windows to roll up by the switch...it ain't the motor...and it can't be the switch since the new is the same result as the old one....help?
This video SAVED MY A#@ in soooo many ways. Wish I could Thank with $$$, I guess BLESS YOU will have to do, at least until this near desperate and ill 69 year old gets back on his feet (and a place other than my Jeep to live). 🙏🙏👊
This was a very informative video and to the point. Nice. However the last few seconds should have been at the start. If the person has already seen the wires and connection they could save time by not watching your video since it doesn't apply to them. Or maybe that's your plan to have them watch to increase the viewing time you get from your videos, and if they find out right away they may not watch. HUM.?
Getting confused on the different wire colors.... sigh. It's not that I don't want to hire a mechanic, it's that getting a reputable one to take on work is next to impossible. I'm NOT going to just hire the first person in the yellow pages.
Hi . Your Video save me today, thank you. My wife by accident lower the passenger side and it won't go up. Because i have a little knowledge about electric and electronic after i watch your video it take me 5 to 10 minutes to make my window goes up. Thank you again. Keep it up.
Thank you very much. two right-side windows stopped working after the Battery was recharged now it works one by one. Thank you again. and I subscribed to your channel.
I finally found your video again. I really appreciate your simplicity and thoroughness in incorporating drawings and variations. It is awesome. I have had to become a driveway mechanic and enjoy learning new things from the RU-vid videos. Your video is one of the best I have watched and I have watched a lot of videos. Thank you very much. My front passenger window will not roll up or down. I have 11.8 and a - 11.8 at the plug when I put my fluke on it. When I put direct power from battery on to the motor leads, the motor works. So I was looking at a grounding issue due the window motor checks out good and the switch was swapped with know good switch.
So I watched the video hoping it would help me roll up the passenger side front window on my 1996 Mazda Protege. I used a digital multi meter as instructed in the video , and I easily found the power source on my 5 pin switch, then the ground using the instructions from the video. It took me longer to get the panel off the door than it did to get the window rolled up. Thank you so much, your video is excellent and makes it easy, I never could have done it without watching!
Very good video. The last section was very helpful. My car has one of those relay set ups to control the window. After I took the door panel off and reconnected the all the pigtails, I could see that the window motor was fine but the cable despite the window hardly ever being opened managed to tangle itself up and lock the window open halfway down.
Thanks so much. Got my window back up on first try. However, my setup has 3 neutral pins - not 4 like yours. Can you, or anyone reading this, comment on how to safely proceed so that I have 2 pins for each of my 2 windows? Thanks in advance.
How about the 2 back doors not working, they have power back to them and a new motor? This video helps but is confusing for me once I get out there to try it, as its the back doors inop
We have a 2008 Honda CRV - the passenger window goes up and down with 2 jumpers but does not work with a new switch. I wonder why (all other windows work properly) Thanks for info and help.
I can only echo what others have said you have a natural ability to teach, the clearest video by far on this subject. And for what it's worth you helped me diagnose the problem is a faulty switch not the motor. Many thanks.
I literally NEVER subscribe to anyone..I was having such a hard time figuring out how to get my window up, and less than 4 minutes into this video I had my solution and you earned a subscription out of me! Thank you so much!
great video man, just subscibed to your channel :)) i want to install slave switch to my passenger window (because there isnt), next to the driver side. how should i wire it? many thanks
Awesome. Thanks a lot and God bless you. In the covid 19 lockdown times, the driver side window button stopped working. With no mechanics around, your video helped me in closing the window and securing my car. Thanks again
Your video saved my life. The best and the most practical video that is simple and easy to understand instead of explaining too complicated diagrams and wirings which is, in the end, would not help someone in trouble. Honestly, of all the videos out there, this is the most helpful. It shows a solution instead of explaining the problem only. Thank you very much!
Whoa THANK YOU for the knowledge you have . The fault you mentioned I diagnosed for my inoperative drivers side door window , was the connector was not fully in and keeps coming out , so I tied it with steel wire. Keep up your great work.
