Thanks a lot for this. I have a 2007 Cadillac STS with the 3.6L engine having the same symptom: very difficult to start after filling up the fuel tank. I just bought the AC Delco part number 2141685 for about $25 and just installed it tonight. Thankfully, the car needed fuel so I filled up and now it starts right up, right away! Super easy and cheap fix.

I work at a dealership in Atlanta and have a 08 CTS 3.0 doing the same thing except after gas it will only start by holding the accelerator to the floor- it will stumble real bad for 30-90 seconds and it fine. It will start every time with ease( no codes yet. But you helped so much today. If you have Facebook I will follow you there also.
Very informative and helpful video, thank you... My Deville 2001 started doing the same thing after filling the tank while the engine was running. I stopped using it for the past few months because the engine starts after several long cranks then shuts off, or it wants to start but doesn't.
I found this helpful. I have a 2005 CTS with a 3.6. It is experiencing a hard start scenario. I did this test and found a tiny vacuum leak at the purge valve, just like in the video. I'm going to replace the purge valve tonight.

@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair No, it's been hard to start in general. I will likely still replace the purge valve, even though it takes ~5 minutes to pull a -5 psi vacuum. Very slow. I have already added fuel injector cleaner to the system, which should take care of that issue. It was never hard to start before I had to service it for the ECM. The ECM is not the issue though.
I discovered that it's 3 small things that have contributed to the hard start situation. I replaced the purge valve. It got a little better. I found a crack in the air box right next to the throttle body, which can cause a lean out situation. Fixing that made it better yet. Lastly, the fuel pressure bleeds off just a little over a minute or so. I found a leaky o-ring on one injector contributing to that. I'm ordering new o-rings and the problem should be solved! :-)

Thanks for your video, I've got similar problem with my 2004 Cadillac Deville, changed the plugs, fuel filter, fuel pumps and IAC valve, even empty out the gas and refill with a new one v power unleaded , but still crank no start issues I was getting, can you direct me more so I can get my Caddy back to running? Please show how the two connectors work. Many of use do not know how to disconnect them. If they get broken it’s more trouble! So it would be great if you explained how they work and what to do to unhook them with our breaking them
Thank u . I just fill my tank with the car running , it stay running fine till I got to the high way that’s when check engine light started blinking and the car loosing power. I got to a location turn it off then i tried to turn it on it would not start right away.
So I got a Cadillac '08 and I'm having a no crank no start and it's not holding the charge one two it's just I don't really understand it because it never had a car like it so one man said it's a speech sensor next one say is a crankshaft position sensor so I don't really understand what's really going on with it help
Hey my car use to do that when I get gas but one day I went out to start my car it will crank but won’t fire I wonder is this the same thing? It also went on for months then finally just gave out I wonder did I notice to late?
Smoke Reacts a stuck open purge valve can cause a hard start, plug the tube that goes from the purge valve to the intake manifold and see what happens if it starts then your problem is the valve but if it doesn't! then your problem is elsewhere

Not only did switching out the purge valve didn't work my check engine light is on I started with the gas cap went to the spark plugs and ignition coils then the code for the purge valve came up so I changed that out but it's still doing the same thing every time I put gas in it won't start I have to feather the pedal
So my car was doing this every time I filled it up I had to feather the gas it was annoying but I did it. Then I went out one morning and it wouldn’t crank come to find out I had a bad cell in my battery but still wouldn’t start. Bc we had tried it so many times the guy said I probably fried my starter so we replaced the starter still wouldn’t start. Replaced the fuel pump relay. Now it will turn over and run for 30 seconds then cut off. I’ve tried feathering it and it still won’t stay running. This is on a 2010 CTS 3.6 any idea of what it could be?
Excellent video very informative but I have a question if you switch out the purge valve and it's still doing the same thing where do I go from there I've been trying to look all over on RU-vid and I really don't know what to do
My check engine lights on I started with the gas cap then went on to the spark plugs in ignition coils because the system said that two cylinders were not running right so that's fixed now but every time I put gas in it it won't start I have to feather it pedal it to get it going
Chris Ramos. if the crank no start condition is present after fueling, then you're problem is most likely the purge valve, if not, you have to test your starting circuit, I have a video about how to test a starting circuit on a hyundai, the testing process is the same, watch that video and follow the steps to diagnose yours. What if my check engine isn’t on but my car does the same thing. Would it be a sign to change the fuel pump my gas pin stop reading today also when I filled up
I have the same type model and it take forever to start but once you let go off pedal it stops any idea what it can be or can that happen cause a fuel pump
Tx 47 that symptom can be caused by many problems on a vehicle, clean your throttle body, a dirty throttle body can cause that and the list goes on and on... check that and let me know... also check your fuel filter
Im haing the same thing except i was just driving and my car died, i bought a battery. After replacing the battery the battery light is still on. It starts then dies. Every time. Im thinking its the fuel pump but im not sure. What do you think?
unforgetable1986 that symptom can be caused by a couple of things, bad fuel pump, a crank sensor etc,,, you should take it to a pro mechanic to have it diagnosed!! Good Luck!!

K Diagnostics I check the fuel filter lines and there correct I change the fuel pump I change the fuel filter and it’s like the gas is not going to the engine so it’s not getting enough pressure I have no idea what to do next and I’m stuck and I’m out of ideas
I have the same car, does the same thing, I put in gas and it cranks and I have to pump on my accelerator to get it started. Although now, it’s been sitting for about a month maybe longer because I can’t get it to start at all. It cranks but just won’t start. Any suggestions?
heaven, a no start after fueling is usually caused by a bad purge valve, but if the car just doesn't start you need to check for spark and injector pulse and maybe compression too
K Diagnostics good to know. Do you think it could also be my crankshaft position sensor? I will ask someone to look at it soon. Hopefully it isn’t a huge issue.
@@yslheav, yeah a faulty Crank sensor can cause a no start, look at the tachometer while cranking, it should bounce if it doesn't that may be an indication of a bad crank sensor but it's not a 100% accurate test, so you should definitely have it looked
