No you don't crank with the key ma'am. You're using the other circuit you made for the cranking part of the key action.

Fix it

I know it's a bit late, but once the wires are hooked up to the button, you can put the relay back into it overtop the wires, and leave it there. For some reason, my CTS works with the button, but i don't even need to use the button to start it, I just press it to turn the engine over, and the key works afterward, and the key also works 10min after using the button. Kinda weird but, it works.

Hey buddy I have the same model and issue it's either a wiring issue or the ecm I had an aftermarket remote start installed before I bought it and didn't know the dealership removed it and put a new wiring harness and the problem went away for a couple months but now it is back at the shop with the same problem if no check engine light is on its probably a wiring issue

Your blend door on your air conditioning is not shutting and closing underneath the dash maybe if you go in next to the glove box with the car off no keys in it of course and see and then find the blend door they'll be like a wire that's might just be plastic or servo and that shuts and opens to make it hot or cold the bumping in the rear end of your car that could be anything you joints of shock broke anything

2 wires from the push button go to the 2 pins on the starter relay. doesn’t matter what wire goes to which pin, all the push button does is complete the circuit when you press in on it, causing both pins to connect and start the car (as long as the key is turned to the “on/acc” position)

So does the key release every time or do you still have to use the key release under the steering wheel

@@susanhenneberry8346there’s a lil button when u remove the bottom part of the plastic to see it it’s what u push in when it locks so what u do it get a lil thin tie strip n rap it around the pin then tighten it so that when it wants to lock it won’t be able too

That's a hard no... This only bypasses the starter relay. It's generally how to test your starter in the event of a no crank/no fire event. I didn't make this video however, I'm doing work on the same model of car and did this to test the starter. This one cranks but, no fire when bypassing the relay to crank it. Still researching the problem.

@@aesthetical97 I didn't want to believe it but, yes... The bypass cranked the starter but, wouldn't fire the engine... No matter what I did, it just wouldn't work... I wound up figuring out that there was no communication between the ignition and the computer (ecm), which is why the ignition wouldn't crank the starter... After tracking down all of the fuses including the fuse boxes under the rear seat, my fears were confirmed... The computer went bad rendering the whole system unresponsive... A used one was installed and programmed however, it went bad as well the following week... Apparently, that model car had an issue with that computer... My research revealed that 9/10 used replacements didn't work at all and 4/5 brand new replacements did... For as much as they cost brand new, only 80% of them was expected to work... If you're having the same issue, try the fuse box under the back seat first... There's a fuse that goes to the ignition back there... There are 2 boxes, one on the driver's side, the other on the passenger side... The passenger side is the one you want to check... The boxes are concealed behind the carpet... This was only discovered when I researched the wiring diagrams associated with that car... If you have any more questions, feel free to ask...

Probably something glitchy with the engine control module. I just bought an 05 cts and I've already been experiencing odd intermittent electrical issues and it basically stems from the ecm

ECM not grounding the starter relay coil control

Could be short/open from key start circuit.

Replaced the relay with a brand new one and still doesn’t work. This is a common issue on these caddy’s. Has to do with the engines computer. Had the computer replaced and it still didn’t fix it, so this was a last resort fix.

@@papergatorzfedducca7998 Not anymore, but if you go on amazon.com and look up “momentary push button, you should be able to find one with 2 wires already connected to it. They cost less than $20 for a pack of 5 of them.

@@jakestansberry7626 ok thank you bro! I do a lot of custom work and I’m trying to get into leds but I’m not good at wiring yet. I need something that’s straight to it. Positive and negative 😂😂😂 UPDATE they’re $12.00 now on there. I need the switch where it will stay on. The switch I found you have to hold it and once you release it goes off. I forgot the name of the switches I need. It’s not momentarily.

@@jakestansberry7626 The DTS is similar. It's the wiring harness being too tight in places thus causing chafing and subsequently random shorts. I'm looking at the wiring diagram right now as we have an '06 DTS trailer queen that was a no start. The ES Short Buddy is on the way. Their relay test kit is great too.
