06/30/2024. Train derailment in Montpellier, Iowa. 

I was in Nahant Yard, Davenport when this was going on. I had a worker tell me about it but there wasn't any access to film it unless I had a drone with me

The drone footage shows the damage & the large area impacted by the derailment.

Looks like between two bodies of water the earthen ground strip that supported the railway was so saturated with water (rainfall & lakes) the rail(s) bed simply gave way

Were the crew ok ..?

Just another day on a Class 1 RR .

Another fine mess to clean up.........just minor owwwies on the crew?

Something Happened KCS 4820 He Got Wrecked Accident

Did the loco go half way into the forest when it derailed? Unpleasant experience to see trees approching I suppose.
