Make sure you take a long lasting patience potion before starting this. It can be done, but it is a royal PITA until you stumble upon the right pry tool that will make the black clips move. There are 6 pair of locking clips on the upper and lower grille inserts. Each pair are in a vertical line with each other. A medium length straight slot screwdriver became my correct pry tool. Remove the bow tie emblem first. It overlaps the lower insert, which must be removed prior to the upper insert. Once you get frustrated, take a break and watch MDZ again. Then it will come apart for you. This requires much more intense pulling on those plastic parts that you would expect. Thanks to MDZ for his correctly paced video. I would love to speak to the person that designed these Fort Knox quality black locking clips.
Man, this is exactly the grille on my '13 Avalanche. Friend offered me a black grille he couldn't use or return, but now that I see this...woof, maybe chrome is fine! (just due to the work involved, your paint job turned out great!)
😂😂😂 I actually had a hard ass time taking it off but the power of editing helped me make it look easy😅 you'll just have to undo a tab at a time and not get frustrated.
Its held up well so far...I posted the video where I painted the grill separately, if you're interested! And you're right thats my mistake I used the universal primer and the rustoleum custom matte black base..
