Thank you! Your video helped me fix my truck after I watched several other videos showing this repair using the wrong Dorman part. That part broke again within a a week. I bought the right one after watching this and fixed my truck within 5 minutes. Way too many RU-vidrs out there don't know what they are doing. I should have gone to the Dorman website and looked up the correct part. Live and learn.
Your video saved my bacon on a grid road in Saskatchewan, roughly 100 km from Nowhere in Particular, and 500km from home! Fortunately its my work truck, so I had zip ties, and in short order I was back on the road with a burnt forearm (News flash: exhaust pipes get hot). Thanks for posting this!
Thank you!!! this was great. The dealership said I had to buy the whole lower cable assembly for $130 because there is some "advanced" engineering around that bushing. LOL
Had this happen on my 04 Silverado just now. Popped it back on to get me in gear and home. Now off to AutoZone for the bushing. Thanks for the video...👍🏽
Thanks for a video that shows an actual installation. Dorman should link to this video from their site for this part! (Theirs is only mildly helpful.) Mine is a 2015 GMC Savanna.
Dont forget to put a E clip on after you put the bushing in and reconnect it if you dnt it will pop off again at least mine did so better safe then sorry
Thank you for this video! I had the same issue and I used zip ties and it fix the issue so I could go to the Auto store for the 14092 bushing for 12 bucks 👍
I couldn’t agree more with you. I hate watching videos like this it drives me nuts. Like the whole reason I’m watching it is for that exact part. Putting the actual part on🤣🤣🤣
Because it’s hell getting them on with one hand. You are wasting your time anyways because this is a temp fix. That bushing is going to shrink again in a year or two especially if you live where the temp is above 100.
If anyone here is still having the issue, they sell a slightly more expensive version of this bushing that isn’t a pressure fit, it just slides in and has a retaining ring for the other side, I didn’t wanna deal with press fitting anything, and it worked a charm
@@nathanwinsor7 I put on the kit you get from Oreillys , didn’t hold on the linkage worth a damn . So I just took off the bracket on the trans and drilled the end , put in a cotter pin . Problem solved
@@meganlee2783 it's been a couple weeks now and theyre still holding up just fine. I did it after my boss told me that's what he's been driving on for two years. The trick is to loop them together so they don't slide off
@@bobbieprice1351 I did for about 5 to 10 min. Until it was squisy to get it in . And then, when you connect it to shift lever I sprayed with cool water to make rigid, then press it onto the shifter. Then you might need to use a flat head screwdriver and press the edge gently where the plastic bushing sets behind the recessed head
@@casperdelo7777 i did even quite hard enough to a degree thought the housing will break. Now i am using zip ties in certsin knot pattern and it seems more secure that the the 20 dollars kit!
14055 come with 2 pieces. One for the linkage under the dash and one for the tranny area. Sifting thru the comments everyone is using the clear one because they can't get the white one to fit. I only saw a couple of comments where people said it only held a few days to a couple weeks.
