Thank you for this Pete. It seems one never learns all there is to know about Pro Tools. - Paul

Hi Pete, thank you for your tutorials, it is appreciated. Please may I ask you (once I have split drums into separate tracks in Pro Tools using Xpand2) how to control the volume of each track with the track sliders and not have to go back into Xpand2 in order to adjust volume? Many thanks.

Hi. Im assuming you have different drums on each of the 4 slots available in Xpand. If you right click on each of the volume controls for these individual slots, you will see that there are separate MIDI CC values to automate the volume. Midid CC 20-23 to be exact. You would have to add a MIDI CC lane on each MIDI track for each volume control and you can adjust that value much like you would adjust MIDI CC 11 (expression) etc.... Thanks for watching.

@@PeteCalandra Hi Pete, thank you for your reply. What I actually did was, I inserted Xpand2 on a Midi track and recorded my kick, snare, HH & cymbals with my Midi keyboard controller in Pro Tools 8. Then I copied and pasted each row of notes over to a track of their own adding Xpand2 to each of them individually. This worked well at first until I started mixing and noticed that I could hear volume increase/decrease using the vertical track slider but the visual fader levels would not move when using the vertical track slider unless I adjusted the horizontal sliders in Xpand2. I have a Drum bus (as I do for all groups) and even the Drum bus vertical fader volume adjustment can be heard but not seen. Is there a way of hearing and viewing adjustments made at the track vertical slider or is this a Pro Tools/Xpand2 fixed feature like it is in EQ & Compression settings, or have I just used a method that is not advisable? Once again, thank you for your reply and assistance. Kind regards, Malcolm

Hi. That is typically set up in the VI. Some can do it and some can’t. Also some VI’s use midi Cc 30
