This is for a 08 Audi a4 2.0T B7 Quattro location of where the Crankshaft Position Sensor aka Engine Speed Sensor is located at!!! m.autozone.com/... www.ecstuning....
For those who want to know what size to take off this sensor is a t30 torx. What I found easier to do was taking off the screw that is next to the sensor that holds it. and using a flash light and a small mirror so u can see where it is
Nothing it means nothing for your vehicle Why bother about it they put these Motors and transmissions is so many makes years and models that they may use one thing for one and not the other Don’t worry about it if your cars running fine
I’m finna do this my car was idle then no crank & epc light came on . & I have a oil leak so it may have oil in mines ima change the crank & camshaft position sensor & let y’all know I put brand new starter & still no start I had the camshaft code so maybe 🤔
A CORRECTION TO THIS VIDEO IS THE BOLT IS A 10MM ALSO A T30 YOU CAN USE EITHER I JUS FINISHED MINES AND IF MENTIONED COULD SAVE A PERSON A LOT OF TIME... COMING OUT AND GOING IN
Very interesting you mentioned the RPM gauge fluctuating up and down as you accelerate, no matter how hot or cold... same symptoms here. I will replace this sensor first before thinking the transmission itself has bad solenoids, a dirty/defective valve body, bad clutch plates, etc... I'll try this on my 2006 B7 A4 2.0T FSI and see if this alleviates the issue, thank you for showing where it's at... sort of a pain, but looks MUCH easier than dealing with the SMG pump electric motor on my 04 BMW E46 M3!!
so could this be why my car starts and then shuts off and also why recently on cold starts it won't idle and today and yesterday it just randomly shut off and when I try to start it cranks over and then I rev it up and RPM's are messed up and then it shuts off. I've had a couple oil leaks from where sensor is plugged into engine. I don't get any CEL's on dash except once but I believe it was the same code for this sensor like it works good one day and other ill have an issue with it just cranking over and then after a couple tries it will start
lol yeah I'm planning on moving on after I get most of this bs settled, but alright I'll go ahead and order one of those and see hopefully this is my case, how many miles did you have on it when u sold it ?
Black B7 90500.. the most recent problem was underboosting that one really had me worried and was never really ever to find the cause, the CEL would come and go as it pleased, especially if I hit it hard it would pop up immediately
Dude u r a true champion. I just went to look for this and its very very hard to see. I think I got the bolt in there but I literally just sweat so much that I went and showered. lol. Ur pretty good. I started loosening the bolt but I put it back in as I won't be able to put it back I think. Anyways, thanx for uploading this as I was trying to locate this thing. Now I know what to do.
Actually, I went to the junkyard to see the part on the car and got more confident by pulling that one on the bad car. I went back to my car and I was able to do the job today. It was kind of hard to reach but I did it. Just felt out the process. I would not have known with out you. Many thanks.
Did you start to have hard start issues? I do and I'm thinking about changing sensor during next oil change here soon. My car has been nothing but problems though so just wondering if there were warnings before it went completely dead.
Jason Foster it gave me zero issues with starting, mines just wouldn’t start at all when the sensor got messed up, I got rid of the car though about 2 weeks ago and I’m glad cause just like you it gave me problems non stop!
Actually quite the opposite. It was harder for me imo. I made a video about replacing this sensor and you can see it clearer in it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XNmS6QMgwSM.htmlsi=LtDUxShgrRBarape
Great vid!! My 2012 audi a5 2.0 fsi engine just like yours had very hard time starting today and check engine light was on with very reduced engine power. I scanned it and it shows p016 camshaft position sensor. Im guessing this is exactly what your issue was?
Camshaft position sensor is different than crankshaft position sensor ... camshaft sensor is at the very top of the engine at the front part of the engine cover to the right of it
Some people are referring to this as Cam position sensor in these comments. My car is throwing up a CRANK sensor code which is what I’ve ordered. I have changed this once already but rather than getting it from the top I took the passenger wheel (right hand drive - UK) and locked the wheel all the way to the right and got it from below with a 10mm socket on a flexible ratchet
The crank shaft position sensor and the cam shaft position sensor are way different things in totally different places ones on the top part of the engine and ones on the bottom part of the engine
