This video is very relatable. The exact issue I'm facing with my 2008 Chevy Cobalt. This has helped me come to a conclusion amd heloed me save a lot of time and money. It took me a while to find this video. Happy to see you get to the solution.
What about the ECU FUSE, in some cases it could be the ecu fuse, because i didn't see you check the ecu fuse, but good job bruh, that was educative.❤❤❤
JOGO my older scan tool didn’t give me the option... just got a better one so I can do most of them now. Thx god! 😇😀. Life is better with my new one.. thx
Neighbor has this issue. Car started ran fine got home. Check engine light is on and everything wont crank wont start or turn over. Would she have to have a new ecm and reprogrammed?
Watch the video again... Is the security light blinking? Is the check engine light on with the key in the on position? Start with the basics, battery, starterAnd connections
turns out my car needed an ecu as well, found one at a junk yard and found a guy that tunes cars to reprogram the ecu. Thanks to your video I was able to figure this out over a weekend.
But you still will have to program the keys to the computer, unless you already have that scan tool. At that time I did not have one… that’s exactly why I went to the dealer. To program the security system..
06 g6 2.4l, no crank,no start after battery change. I have check engine light but I don't get chime. Starter fuse good. Bumped starter over w/screwdriver. Seems to get gas! No motion on gas/temp gauges nor cluster light. I have dome, radio, window & lock action. Lights work, blinkers/Hazard! My security light is not seen among others at switch turn on... Help with direction on this ! Thanks
Sigma Tricky Did you put your battery in the wrong way? If you did that momentarily you probably blew a fuse. It will be one of the bigger amperage fuses..
@@HayesMobileAutoRepair Battery installed correctly! 30 amp fuse is good. I see no break in see through fuse. Switched blower relay with run crank relay in the under hood fuse box & still same outcome. Upon battery install, I do remember alarm sounding. I think I connected ground 1st instead of positive 1st. I didn't do the pin test on grey block relays. I'm scratching my head.
I might add car has been sitting, not my daily driver. The battery just ran down & I replaced battery. Car was running b4 all this. Help in this confusion...
What scan tool are you using? I am having similar issues with my cobalt. Drove home fine after car was gifted to me (check engine light was already on). Came out the next day to a dead battery. Attempted to charge battery but wouldn’t work. Changed battery still didn’t work. Have solid security light and check engine light.
Greg Yazzie what code did u get? What didn’t work.? Did the vehicle crank and not start or did it not say or do anything at all? Do you have an extra key if so try that.. also unlock the door with the key and then try to start it.. it should disable the security system. Sometimes it works so try that too..
I have a 2008 Chevy Cobalt and new battery new starter and mechanic checked everything but still won't turn over...why won't it start? maybe the ingine switch?
In the trunk by the battery, I think 50 amp fuse didn't watch the whole video but had the a same thing on a 06 cobalt, it's the only fuse near the battery
Hey jake having problem with my cobalt if that fuse goes out what are some of the signs key will go forward radio comes on but it makes no sound at all about wanting to crank,
Question for you if you still check comments for this video. I have a '06 Saturn ION running the same engine you're working on in this video. If I short the starter the starter turns over. I have power to everything in the car: Lights, trunk, starter, ETC. When I turn the key nothing happens. My limp mode light is lit and my check engine light is lit. (Not flashing) Is it possible it's the same issue? I am getting a P2101 error code.
Why is a flashing security light bad when you go to check your engine? Can you please explain? Also you never demonstrated how to check your power and ground to your computer.
I’m having this exact issue with my 09 cobalt. I’ve spent a pretty penny on tows, ignition switch and starter. Anti theft light stays on and so does the check engine light.
Chevy has a problem with her every ignition key if you make a new key from a dealer cute somebody who makes keys it always works because it's key get loose inside out it is a fat key there's no code
Hi towed to the dealership to program in those days.. they programmed it it started and I got paid. As long as the check engine light comes back on you should be able to program it and run as it did before
your a shade tree mechanic . so which is better dirt and grit or a real shop ? why would you want the light on ? isn't it the everyone wants to stay off ? just face you do not know what your doing on this certain car .
Define “real shop”. Crooked, partially educated, money driven minions under the guise of a corporate logo? 🤔 I’ll take “dirt n grit” for the win Alex. 😏. Always learning=Power
Btw no check engine light... means no communication w/computer 🤓. If it’s on, he can proceed to follow trail of codes and trace the problem source w/a process of elimination. #listenandlearndude
