I recently got a F150 2007 the light will not go off, fluid was ok, parking switch ok. I researched an Yourtube video where they show a connector behind the instruments panel, that when you push it back or forth the light goes off! Apparently this seems to be a issue with older trucks, where the instruments surface mounts components loose connection. I resolder the connector and the surface mount resistors right under and that fix my issue. you need to remove the Iddels to acces circuit board to resorer. Need a 7 min socket, T15 Torxs, Solder Station Fine tip, Solder and Super Glue to complete repair approximately time is 1 hr.tops
Just fixed my 2007 Ford with a cardboard wedge. I know it's probably a bad solder joint on the instrument cluster but cardboard was way easier. Thanks for the video.
I just repaired a cluster for the same problem, the solder joints crack but nearly impossible to see even with a magnifying glass. It’s the 821 resistor. Directly above the stepper motor. There’s a great video on youtube
@@cesarcardona5755 I've literally spent thousands fixing pretty much anything you could think of on my 07 f150, so the idea to shim the connector is more than welcome for a cheap and easy solution!
"customer is too cheap..." that's when you tell them it can't be fixed properly. I personally don't like the wedge trick. I have the same problem and will try re-soldering the connector. I appreciate your video though to confirm the bad connector issue. I like the HD video, very clear and steady. EDIT: Brake light fixed after re-flowing the cluster connector solder joints. Hopefully this stays fixed. While this video solved the problem another way it was still instructive on what to expect when disassembling covers.
@Itachi Lowkey Yep unfortunately. Not long after my so-so soldering job (and posting here that it worked) it came back and it stays on now. I suspect the problem was on the opposite side of the pcb board and I did not feel comfortable disassembling any further to get to it. I'll buy another cluster when I go to resale.
HI , Mr Cesar. I checked the pump, the sensor, everything related to the subject, even what you explained and everything remains the same. could you tell me what else could it be? Thanks.
I tried the cardboard and it worked for a little while then the problem came back. I resoldered the 821 resistor on the back and it seems to be the culprit that causes the initial issue
Good deal hey question what is that plug on the left side of steering wheel that plugs into top trim panel It’s an option that I don’t have 2008 f150 stx bought it brand new I had the same problem with light I put black tape in light hole in the rear Plug any ideas pedal height raise and lower is that on these trucks
What about if I have a random and intermittent brake light issue? Comes on pretty much daily. May stay off for a little while . Might blink randomly and stay on for a minute and then flash some more. No pattern. No rhyme or reason. Any ideas? May even stay off an entire trip of 2 hrs.
I'm with u buddy i'm doing this tomorrow wish u showed the screws to take out 2 get at it i'm going to shimmy it up from vibration could u imagine changing the whole dash cluster at ford Ha $$$$$$$$ LOL can I pull the bulb ??? Kidding I joke a lot I smack the dash behind the wheel and it goes out for like 5 minutes has 2 b the problem... Just went through the 5.4 titan plugs $ 850 bucks for the tune up he only snapped 1 2006 ford 150 Lariot hot glue the cardboard shim ??
Hello my name is Alex and my problem is a 1990 ford 7.5 PiNNA 300Q thor motorhome and I moving to diferent location and I need to take it the motor home with me so the problem is the transmition handel is STUCK in Parking and can't move it out of Parking position, I try pushing or step on it the brake pedal and trying but lift gear STUCK en parking can't move it! .. and also some thing funny the motorhome do not have parking break pedal, not swich, not handel, and emergency parking break light is on. PLEASE ANY BODY CAN HELP ME JUST NEED TO KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON AND PROVABILY I CAN FIXE IT. THANK YOU!.
Mr Noodle I just replaced mine this past year. Fuel pump driver module. Completely corroded, cracked down the middle. It crapped out on me during a rainfall far from home.
Ford has always had poor engineering they always hire a few clowns that like to make everything difficult to either work on or to stay lasting they Pride themselves on this kind of mentality the same year of Ford has problems with the timing chain getting slack because they don't have enough oil going to the top of the engine for the hydraulic tensioners also known as the cam phasers or something like that. But that plug is too heavy and that's why it cracks that board the soldering on the board I seen in another video like this one oh, it says that the soldering joints are on both sides of 821 but I think it would be better just to replace the board it's around 400 or 500 bucks for the board and another 400 to 500 for the labor so you're looking around 900 and or $1,000
Apparently you haven't worked on GM stuff or heaven forbid Chrysler electronic problems huh. Senior Master ASE here saying it's a 15 year old truck man.
There are several places on the internet that will fix the problem by sending them the instument cluster for around a hundred dollars. Will also replace all the led lights for a small charge. But do not replace the cluster lights with a new one. That will cost 3 to 4 hundred dollars. Best bet is to find a friend that knows how to solder the board for free.
