Removal of the Emergency Brake assembly in order to properly repair the switch. The switch must function properly in order for the indicator light to turn on. If the indicator light does not turn on the leveling jacks will not operate.
I have a 94 Ranger, one prob is the emerg brake light no longer working (constant on). I've been trying to work up the courage to do what you have already done. Such a rock and a hard place to get to. My compliments on your initiative and fortitude to contort yourself for the fix. Thanks for sharing 😊
The cable itself is the spring that returns the pedal back. It's idiotic. That cable under the car stretches or breaks, and the light is constantly on. My cable snapped between both rear wheels. The cable is rusted because of the worst cheapest metal. I'm trying to just pull the switch wire off the ped to keep the light from dinging.
Thanks. Simple switch. Tight job, dumb design that the whole thing has to come out of there just to access the switch but at least it shakes up the grounds while you do it:) I just changed out the GEM that requires pulling the fuse box. Tight stand on yer head jobs, nice when yer done:) 👍🌞👌
Thanks for Vid on parking break. I was having all kinds of trouble. I could reach the switch wire from driver door and wired it diirect. Red break lite always on. I can live with it.
How do I get the wire off the switch on the still-mounted brake in my car? My cable broke, and the indicator light is dinging constantly. The return spring is the cable. So, I need to pull the wire to the switch while waiting for a new cable.
Hi Rufus, I got the same problem but little afraid to take everything down and not be able to replace the hide loose nut. Do you think by removing the dash speedometer and try to access from the top it is possible
That switch just illuminates the dash light so you know when the parking brake is on or off, and you don't drive 500 miles before you notice it's engaged.
So I replaced my emergency parking brake switch on my 00 Mazda b3000 and no light I replaced the bulb no light either I checked the fuses also all good but no e brake light What could be the problem
I'd say bad ground. Instead of having a ground wire, a single wire and mount is the other "Wire" to ground. Scrap mounting spot with a flat screwdriver, small wire brush, or sandpaper (Emory finger nail popsicle-looking thing).
