Wow, came here just to see if Jesse fucked up one of my all time favorite songs, but he held that torch & made that song his own. Nice job on belting it out.
also, you can tell that jesse is really into folk, almost inclined to sing folk songs.. you can hear it in the natural inflections in his voice that cannot be controlled...
I was probably high when I wrote that. I am quite familiar with both Modest Mouse and Bukowski. I've owned and listened to every Modest Mouse album more than a few times.
Agreed, no other band plays as many good covers or does as many acoustic sets as BN or even Jesse Lacey on his own. BN can put on an amazing acoustic set.
God, Neutral Milk Hotel Covers are basically IMPOSSIBLE. I liked this, "mistakes" and all. I think Jeff would appreciate the fact that A) he's even trying it and B) he's so inspired by his music. But I don't want to assume anything.
@johnmorisi8 On April 26, Lacey announced at their Baltimore show that they have been writing material but have had difficulties as they are "tired of bumming you guys out. We’re trying to write something happy."
these lyrics seem to be perfectly fitted to jeff mangum's voice, and you can tell because when jesse sings the lyrics "i am listening to hear where you are" you can hear him almost trying to emulate jeff's vocal stylings there. it's really interesting...
When I imagine a better life for myself this is what it would be like. Jesse Lacey singing Jeff Magnum to me. Just me. Cuz I put a force field bubble between us and that fool crowd of Hollywood kooks.
