About 1,000 foreign troops from 17 countries participated in China's military parade in Beijing on Thursday to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World anti-Fascist War.
It is the first time that foreign troops have been invited to participate in a military parade in China.
Belarus, Cuba, Egypt, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mexico, Mongolia, Pakistan, Serbia, Tajikistan and Russia each dispatched a formation consisting of around 75 members to march in the parade.
Another six countries, namely Afghanistan, Cambodia, Fiji, Laos, Vanuatu and Venezuela, sent military teams of around seven people each to join the parade.
The troops, arranged in the English alphabetic order of their country names, with that from Russia marching at the end, passed through Tian'anmen Square, following the marching formations of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
The foreign troops arrived in China in the middle of August and have since lived and trained at the parade training bases together with their Chinese counterparts.
Representatives of veterans from the Red Army of the former Soviet Union, the "Flying Tigers" of the United States as well as some of their offspring also joined the commemorative event at Tian'anmen Square.
A large number of foreign troops and international friends gave their support to China during its war of resistance against Japanese aggression.
