Located in Angkor, the West Baray holds over 12 billion gallons of water and required 200,000 people to construct its tall embankments. Ten centuries later, its water is still being used to irrigate surrounding fields.

I've been there. At that time I didn't know it was man-made! And if one Baray wasn't big enough already, the khmer empire built two!

+Sam K. The Khmer Empire built more than two HUGE barays. They built at least 6 total throughout the whole Empire. But this is not taking into consideration the hundreds of small and medium barays also that they built.

Just insane. It seems impossible to make it without modern equipment and money.

They used 1,000 elephants. There is a submerged treasure room in the exact center of the Baray. I dreamt it.

@@johnperic6860 Thank you for acknowledging the veracity of my dream by using it as the premise to your comment. In the case of your sister however, she is lying and it's a case of consanguity and a wet dream she is having with you.

Take that Meghastructures, how is that nobody has done a full documentary of this?

+MaQuGo119 You do know that the Khmer Empire as a whole has not been study as much yet perhaps even surpass the Roman Empire in achievements. What they talk about here in this video is just a small fraction of the whole complexity and sophistication of the Khmer Empire.

So little is known about the Ankgor Wat civilization. The power of these Moghuls must have exceeded those of the Indian Raj's it was modeled on. The most incredible works of art of the age. The sheer number of people building this even over many years was a prodigious feat of engineering, skill with stone and more important, the sheer logistics of such a feat. Amazing.

+Jack D. Ripper yeah but this is just the beginning of the Greatness of the Khmer Empire. What you see in this video is just a small fraction of accomplishments of over 2,500 years of engineering.

Why are you mentioning Moghuls? The Khmers are not Mongolian.

The fuck is a Mughal? The Mughal Empire is too young compare to the Khmer Empire.
