I knew about this back in the day to get a level 90 and evolve it with a Rare Candy. Now it's suddenly the strongest member of my Battle Frontier team.

I didn't realize gen 8 had that added feature, that's actually pretty cool, not necessarily super useful, but still pretty cool

I actually caught the Magicarp at lv 100! I was convinced Manaphy was somewhere in there and spend way too much time fishing

I had no idea pressure or vital spirit would increase high level encounter rates

I remember hearing in school that you could catch Kyogre in that pond, may hours spent fishing there lmfao

I caught this lad and traded it to my copy of Soul Silver, where I then traded it for Jasmine's Steelix whose level matches the level of the pokemon you give her.

This fact is actually incorrect, it should be only SPECIES found and caught at lvl 100, as wild lvl 100 gyarados can also be found at the nature preserve

I remember finding a level 97 Magikarp there but I ran away because I had the fire starter The fear of a Hydro Pump from a magikarp was 4 gens too early lol. I remember spending hours finding the great fish pokemon an NPC talked about there thinking it was a Kyogre and not just a beefy Magikarp

In SV DLC 1, Kitakami also has the lvl 100 Magikarp in one of its many ponds. You can also shiny hunt it. I was fortunate enough to get mine in a few sandwich resets. A beautiful shiny lvl 100 Magikarp.

This sounds like the perfect Pokemon to send to use potions 🙂

Today I learned you can evolve a pokemon at lvl 100 with a rare candy. Love the hidden QOL features

I remember the cinnabar island glitch back in the day, keep a rare candy on the first pokemon in your party and surf up and down the right side and it clones your rare candy and spawns level 100s

I cannot explain to you how much I played when I was like 9. I had a team of 5 level 100 magikarp and 1 level 92 (got too antsy) that I beat the champion with. Why? Don’t know. But that was like my 178th team to be the elite 4, had to start doing something “fun”

I caught a level 99 shiny Magikarp whilst fishing there because I was dedicated to finding a level 100 Magikarp

For the thing about the abilities, even with them, it's still only 0.5% chance to get, which is pure pain with the fishing mechanics. This is because the abilities have 50% chance to get max level for that encounter slot and the only slot that can have it in the first place is a 1% slot that can have lv1-100.

Had fun watching the whole stream I missed. As for those interactions on the ship and the ones that ask questions you answer effect whether you get certain endings regarding how your relationship is with each character at the end of the game. And yes reimi is the main interest for edge.

For reasons unexplained, in Gen IV you can encounter a level 50 Magikarp while surfing on Johto Route 43.

In Scarlett and violet. You can also find a level 100 Magikarp

If memory serves, my first encounter to this resort area I was terrified of the npc dialogue that there is a monster on that specific body of water and out of curiousity I fished for it only to reel in a shiny magikarp full odds sadly it was not a lv100

The whole ability of pressure or hustle, etc etc I did not know about as during generation four / five I was heavily into action replay and just breed perfect pokemon or used the guaranteed capture.

Used to be when you leveled past 100 it would just take you down a couple levels.

I think you guys are missing the true intention of Magikarp’s use. It’s 50/50 to be level 50 and above with flat EV’s. before this, you had to farm dittos and rare candies or risk exp sharing on a single EV stat with a calculator you couldn’t turn off. This resort opened the flood gates to the first ever Perfect IV hunt that’s so easy, you could do it with a Pokémon that’s 4 times under level.
