This was my first Gunpla model kit. I paid $18 for it in 2022 and was very impressed with the detail, poseability, and accessories. It was very fun to put together and looks really nice, even unpainted.
Great review and information! I love the comparisons you do with so many Mobile Suits. How serendipitous that you review the 1/144 HGUC Zaku I Sniper Type, just a few days after I already bought one at HobbyLinkJapan. =P
Awesome! I was a big G fan so I got the Hyper God Gundam and Shadow Gundam first, but then I saw more selling from my provider and learned of UC Gundam... now here I am finishing my Zaku II Commander MG, Gouf Custom, and awaiting my Char's MG v.2.0. Ah, Gundam is grand. :)
Just bought this kit yesterday and got it today. Couldn't find the power pipe in my box - the one linking the rifle to the generator - and nearly screamed. I love the occasional mixed-media inclusions like that, and it just looks great. I was nearly afraid they didn't include it, but I saw you had it in your video here, and I happened to find it wedged in the plastic runner bags I was about to throw out. Great review. Can't wait to get started on the kit.
My thunderbolt kits are upstairs so it slipped my mind when I looked at the Zakus downstairs. =P And that GM Sniper Custom Ver. Ka is a Gundam Fix Figuration figure. The only way to get that awesome looking machine as a figure, other than resin kits.
It also comes with the original head parts, putting you on your way to a full blown MS-05S with you only needing the original head, backpack and knee as well as another right shoulder to turn the sniper into the commander
I did actually want to buy them a few times in the past, but they were never in stock at those times =P I'll probably get them when I finally get around to watching the series. I liked using them in SRW.
***** I had the limited 3 pack for that series. I got it back in like 1999. They are HG but they give you foil stickers. The results are OK, but they are a lot older than the HGUC kits. Be prepared to paint.
bvzxa3 I have a loot of 90's bandai kits, so I know what to expect =D From what I've seen they remind me of the Tekkaman Blade kits. As long as they're better than the average 1/144 Wing kit from the time, I'm happy =P
It did, but it didn't power the beam bazooka itself, which is part of why it was so huge. The actual power output was only about the same as the Gundam's beam rifle, if I recall, which while it still got the job done, wasn't ideal for its size and price
Arrowdodger It also needed 10 minutes to recharge after 1 big blast or a few smaller blasts. And 10 minutes can be a loooong time on the battlefield =/
It sucks that bandi keeps coming out with these great HG models but nothing really good MG wise. The GM sniper II was the last great kit for MGs. They need to come out with a MG zaku sniper.
That's the Yonem Kirks version and it's the exact same. You just get a few extra parts, like the commander antenna, new shoulder armor, extra barrels on the backpack,...
