One of my favorite episodes! Such a treat to have this series on RU-vid and without commercials! At the end Talie is wearing Teresa's hat she wore in the pilot High Riders when she met the stage bringing Scott and Johnny to Morro Coyo. Also caught a blooper when it shows Johnny riding Barranca thru the Lancer gate instead of the dark horse given to him by Warburton -- obviously a clip from another episode as Barranca doesn't appear in this one.

LOL...I loved how Fox was so cheap and never imagined video and used the opening scene of the pilot in this...we see Teresa running to meet the stage coach...Still this show was brilliant because of its stars. It did make me laugh when the so called gunfighter missed his holster trying to holster his pistol.. He covered for it well though... lol. I loved Johnny Madrid Lancer.

The young cowboy STACEY meets at the table was actor BURR DeBENNING who HE and STACEY both were featured in a CIMARRON STRIP episode:THE JUDGEMENT available on YOU TUBE and broadcast on JANUARY 4,1968 which was just about the end of most westerns by 1973 although STACEY would be the co star of LANCER also featured WAYNE MANDUAR (spelled correctly?) and ANDREW DUGGAN* * Actor RICHARD DEVON also sitting at the table (on the right of screen) was seen on ALL T V SERIES from 1955 tru about 1975*
@scvandy3129
@scvandy3129 Год назад
"johncasciello4123," 'The Judgement' is an especially good episode of "Cimarron Strip" because of James Stacy's guest appearance and the generous amount of screen time. Plenty for 'bad guy' Burr DeBenning and regular Randy Boone (Francis, deputy) too. However, for Stuart Whitman (Marshal Jim Crown) fans, he's very 'light' in this episode; to its detriment IMO. Stacy, not Stacey Maunder, not Muander You're right re Richard Devon -- always reliable as a 'heavy.' Interesting 'twist' here -- a cold-blooded killer spouting Bible verses.

@@perlitamalmis9266 FINALLY, after 80 Comments -- over how many years?! -- someone acknowledges the presence of Tallie and the spark between these two. Might I add how lovely Susan O'Connell looks and how well she plays the part. Tallie no doubt was thrilled and felt special when Johnny gave her his jacket to keep warm. And the next a.m. she doesn't hide it. On the opposite end, we can usually count on Richard Devon (Sexton) to play a pure s.o.b. whereas Burr DeBenning (Isham) tends to play both sides of the law.

Oh damned Murdoch! Usually I like him, but in the moment I'm quite mad on him. His wonderful, enigmatic son yearned for love all his life. A moment ago he killed two men, one of them a former friend, to save his father's life. He protected his father with his own body. Now he asks with a small, wavering voice if Murdoch would want him back as a prodigal son....and Murdoch put a hand on his shoulder! Great! I know it was another time and a men's world with limited emotions to boot...but if my own son would ask me a thing like that in such a voice I would just take him in my arms and hug, hug, hug him to show him all the love I can and all social rules could go to hell!

"Lancer" 1968 - 70, 60 minutes, color; CBS from 20th Century Fox TV. trivia: What incredibly successful 20th Century Fox series, also from the vicinity of half a century ago, used the terrain of Warburton's compound [at Century Ranch, the studio's impressive, versatile location ranch facility in Malibu Canyon, California) as ITS base of operation? tick tock, tick tock, tick tock . . . Those hills look AWFULLY familiar to . . . . . . . "M*A*S*H", right? Right ! RIGHT !! "M*A*S*H" 1972 - 83, 30 mins., color; CBS from 20th Century Fox TV.

By the way...the poem I, a stranger and afraid, in a land I never made...that's from A.E. Housman and written about 25 years later. In 1871 Housman must have been about 12 years old and living in the English backcountry. They made a mistake here or Warburton was a time traveller.

@scvandy3129
@scvandy3129 Год назад
@@Patricia-bs5ty Thank you for the information and the suggestion. Good advice; bought the bootleg a dozen years ago. Re "Lancer" can't be transferred to DVD." 1) Is that because of Disney's ownership of 20th Century Fox TV titles? 20th series "Daniel Boone" and "Lost in Space" were filmed in the 1960s as well, so the negatives and film stock should be kind of similar. There's Emmy-winner Carl Betz's "Judd for the Defense" just 'sittin' on the fence.' A real crime. Also M.I.A. "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir," "The Felony Squad," "Bracken's World," "Nanny and the Professor" and "12 O'Clock High." One has to wonder, even before Disney's purchase of 20th, the studio wasn't putting these '60s 'chestnuts' out on DVD. Why, oh WHY?, we naturally wonder. 2) Is that because the elements have deteriorated to the degree that sharp digital components can't be mastered from the 35 mm negs? 3) Is that because Disney doesn't give a sh*t? 4) have copyrights expired? 5) Where's SHOUT! Factory and their efforts in all these instances? Do they really think "Mr. Belvedere" is where one puts all their eggs in one basket? "Lancer" fans would hope that with "Once Upon a Time . . . in Hollywood" and its focus on "Lancer" ["Lancer" pilot, 'The High Riders'] that THAT would be the golden opportunity to 'get the ball rolling' and start 'bringing in the green.' Curious: Are people on RU-vid pages devoted to "Bracken's World," "Judd for the Defense," "The Felony Squad," "12 O'Clock High" and "Nanny and the Professor" complaining similarly as to those shows' absence from the DVD universe?

The sound of multiple riders' horses' hooves would be like an ALARM! Notice how when it 'serves the story's purpose' either 1) we hear the approaching horses or 2) we do NOT hear the approaching horses, but their riders just pop up, seemingly out of nowhere. Same thing with contemporary shows 1) we hear the approaching car or 2) we do NOT hear the approaching car, but its occupants just happen to show up!

About the clothes ... TV Westerns kept the stars' wardrobe to a minimum because of the expense of making identical outfits for the actors' stunt doubles. I really get sick of seeing Jelly's plaid shirt and patched vest. It seems odd that he'd have minimal clothing changes because Jelly doesn't do much fighting or even riding in any episode, so how often would there be a stuntman doubling for him?
@RockerH2526
@RockerH2526 4 года назад
Sharon Polikoff Keeping the same clothes made it easier to cut in stock film for repeated scenes and when shooting on outside location and studio shots. Or so I have read.
