I have a pretty legendary car to show you all on the Retro Collectibles KRAK IT Show today! The wheel standing, exhibition drag racing cars campaigned by Hurst Performance between 1965 and 1970 across North America and ended with the '68 model year. If you haven’t heard of or seen this car, you’ll see in the video why it’s called the Hemi Under Glass……
It’s 1/18 in scale and by a company I’m a fan of a lot of their cars, called Highway 61. It’s a very heavy model that’s got very realistic details. And it’s signed by the man who owned and drove this car for many years, Bob Riggle! The car also has a colourful incident that involves Jay Leno back in 2016…….. when they rolled a newly constructed '69 version of the Hemi Under Glass after turning sharply at the end of a wheelie run with Riggle driving and Leno in the passenger seat!
Also, I tell you a story at the end of how I helped crack a forgery ring dealing in fake autographed memorabilia out of Toronto a couple years ago after spotting a suspicious ad for an autograph of a long passed celebrity……..
