Just as the world was showing great interest in picking up SUVs for everyday usage, and the market was yet to get flooded with crossovers, BMW already started developing their own concept. Finally a brand new product, the BMW X6 was launched back in 2008.
It was a coupe design with a sloping roofline at the rear, more of an ideal fastback or liftback if we can say. And BMW gave this design form a new name. Sports Activity Coupe or SAC is how they had termed it. It had just the room for 4 individuals, with slightly more luggage space than an average sedan. However this coupe had much larger wheels, sat slightly higher than the other sedans, and it still was not that monstrous SUV, and with its look, it could slot in very easily as the sporty car you wanted to drive everyday. The larger wheels and increased height still did not give you all terrain performance, rather it helped tackle all weather types in an urban setting. And that just felt nice.
By 2009, BMW added a bit of ooomph to the same X6, this time slapping a twin turbo 4.4 L heart to the sporty looking vehicle, and in came heralding the X6M, with flared nostrils in the from. A machine capable of breakneck speed at straight line, and also during cornering. A crossover that started inching out from being a practical everyday car to an edgy performance oriented "all weather" fun machine.
