I have a trumpeter 1/700 Bismarck with hunter set after this i am considering the Tamiya 1/350 Bismarck or Tirpitz . Many thanks for an enjoyable video . Regards Gav.
Thanks for a great vid , always struggled with ships but your series on the Calcutta opened my eyes to an alternative way of doing the build and has transformed my models I had this Bismarck in the stash and have delayed it once I saw you were doing it ...may even do the full Baltic camo ..
@@Drydockinscale I bought The Eduard Bismarck Photo etch set: BIG5357. It comes with part 1 and 2 as well as the flags. The amount of detail is crazy. I just added a few more months to the build...
@@Drydockinscale lol yeah, I'm not going to use every part either, some photo etch is redundant, we already used some from The trumpeter kit. The only thing that bothered me about the Trumpeter kit is no blast bags... I ended up buying resin main and secondary turrets that had them molded on. I tried to make them with fabric tape, then latex gloves but they never looked right to me.
Fantastic work. What oil paint did you use for the rust on hull? Just started building 1/350 ship, mainly build armor and use oils for the weathering, I don't usually apply clear coats but tend to touch a ship more probably because of the size so thinking about applying clear varnish.
