I was able to put the Rocky S2V Enhanced Jungle Boots to the test of ruck marching over 1,400 miles. They stood up remarkably well and demonstrated the high quality of this boots.

Boots: the weird thing about them is that they can either be your best friend or your worst enemy.

I've had these for about 10 months in tropical Australia, mostly for recreational hiking in rocky, dry or wet country as seasons change, and where most boots don't last long. These are the best boots for those conditions I've ever worn and are showing no signs of falling apart and I find them very comfortable. Stitched soles are particularly good for these environments as the heat and humidity often cause soles to detach. At the same time I bought a pair of secondhand Garmont T8s, but no comparison in terms of comfort from my point of view, and these ones are much better for wet conditions.

The one thing that pulled me away from the original S2V boots was that they cannot be re-soled. Can these newer ones be re-soled?
@TheEvolvingWarfighter

To my knowledge, the S2V boots cannot be resoled. You are correct by identifying this as a big draw back. I definitely would have resoled by Jungle boots if I had the option. I guess if you need the traction, they are worth the cost. If not, there might be better options to reduce cost in the long run.

Which feels more comfortable to you, these or the tactical? This will be used for field use, Army, hot hot desert.

I found both boots to be very comfortable once I got used to wearing them. The Tactical boots are far more padded/lined, so some may say they are more comfortable but they will be hotter. I actually found the first couple weeks I wore the Jungle boots that I would overtighten them because I was used to be a more padded boot. But after I corrected my user error, I really enjoyed the Jungle boots and logged my longest march in them (100km in a day). Personally, if I had to pick one, I would go with the Jungle boot for their durability. They have a thicker sole resulting in longer wear time.

Wait so are these 2lbs per boot? If so that's crazy. I can't see how I could justify carrying 4lbs total on my feet when I could wear something like the danner tachyons that weight only 26oz for the pair! That's the equivalent, energy wise, of carrying over 10 extra pounds on your back (that's been well validated by scientific research) To be fair, I am a big minimalist/barefoot type, so I do have a big bias. I have also always had big problems with blisters while wearing boots so if these are some magical blister cure, I would absolutely pick them up. But the energy cost is still a big issue.

The boots are about 2 lbs per pair. I have never handled Danner Tachyons but these Jungle boots likely have added weight in the enhanced sole and better ankle protection.

@@TheEvolvingWarfighter oh they are only 2lbs for the pair? I couldn't find any info on the weight of them but I saw the regular s2v's were 3.5lbs for the pair and I thought the jungle version was heavier. If so, 2lbs is very good. I was actually looking at getting the Rocky C7 lightweight boot which is only 2lbs, although I cannot find any reviews on them. To each their own, for me personally the best ankle support is strong ankles with the lowest possible stack/heel height, and the best sole is practically no sole

@@smesaric i think he's wrong on the weight.

You should consider contacting Merriam-Webster to have the word removed from the dictionary.
