Great Vids! Are you running a stock block? What made you decide to go with 2560R over 2554? Do you have a 3" exhaust? I currently have a few kits saved on Krakens website. Not sure if I want to go low or high mount turbo and if I want to run a 2554 or 2560. Have fun!
Yep, stock bottom end. I’ve rebuilt my head with new valves, did a port/polish myself and running the exhintake mod. I chose 2560 because I plan on building a bottom end, and the 2560 is better for 200+ hp. I have the 3” downpipe but only a 2.5” ISR exhaust. I’m planning on buying a full 3” enthuza in the near future. I would honestly go top mount. I have a buddy who went low mount, you have to replace the water inlet on the water pump, you can’t adjust coolant or oil lines once it’s mounted, super hard to clock once it’s mounted, and it’s more expensive. Top mount is so easy to work on, the extra 1-200 rpm for spool is negligible. I can be off throttle and go 100% and within 600 rpm I’m at 8psi.
Vacuum hose from the wastegate is running to a nipple on the outlet of the turbo. Kraken includes an adapter (which converts the 3 bolt flange off the Garrett to a 2" flange), but it does not have the nipple on it. I bought the flange online somewhere. You CAN technically run the source to the throttle body, but to have the best "response" for the wastegate it needs to be the shortest line possible, which means as close to the outlet of the turbo as possible.
$1700 shipped. That’s the manifold, downpipe, intercooler kit and oil/coolant lines. I bought the turbo separately, but he sells them on his site and will even partially assemble it for you!
If I put the 45 on the block, the oil line was hitting the dipstick tube, and then it needed to be hose clamped out of the way of the downpipe. With the 90 on the block, it cleared everything and I didn't need to clearance anything. You do what you want though.
