I've got a 96' Whaler, the build quality just seems better than what's out there today and it's still in great shape after all these years.

I think so too, the hulls got a little wavy, but they were built like a brick house and rode phenomenally!

Had a pursuit 2460 Denali it was not great in ocean sold it. Bought a 2007 Whaler outrage 25 with twin Verados. Love it absolute brick been caught out in 10 footers and was very nervous about Getting back in the inlet. Long story short, no problem breaking waves etc.. This boat is really amazing. It is very heavy though and not easy to clean. But I think it's holding its value very well. I don't keep it in the water.

@TheBoatersPodcast 4 месяца назад
Depends, if you like the boat and the layout and it suites what you want in a boat, then yeah! I would inspect the fuel tank and the transom though. But if you like the layout and it does what you want it too, then a repower will make it super reliable. Though, being a 30 year old boat, I would check out the wiring, cost of a rewire if needed, inspect the fuel tank, and the transom.

Hey! If you join the Boater's Program or the main Born Again Boating channel we do a weekly live stream so we can talk about stuff live like that, but that's the best way :) Stoked to hear about the Center Console purchase though, a lot will depend on the budget and where you go and what you want to do, if you are going offshore, budget friendly and great quality I'd say look into a Dusky

We've heard his opinion on Florida boats. Now I'll tell you what holds its value in the Pacific Northwest. The waters around here basically necessitate that you use a heavy gauge aluminum boat. So for the same year and same length, older fiberglass boats just don't really sell for much up here. And center consoles are nigh-on non-existent. Mostly because falling in here is almost a deathsentence with water temps typically in the mid 50s. You're gonna need a windshield when you're under way that covers the whole width of the boat, if not a pilot house. The brands that appeared to depreciate the slowest are North Rivers, Raiders, Duckworths, and Customwelds although those are more heavily specialized for inland whitewater jetboating. Personally though, I think that Thunder Jet makes an ideal boat for this area in spight of their somewhat more rapid depreciation rate only because they're the only aluminum monohulls built for the northwest with an aggressive reverse chine. Which allows you to have a deeper draft boat and still resists pendulous rolling while the boat is sitting still on the ocean. For anyone with a weak stomach the roll in the chineless deep Vs is horrible. The chine will make it pound more than it otherwise would but that is always going to he a problem for aluminum because they weigh so much less, and it easy to mitigate by tying everything down and installing seat suspensions.

Here's What I think.... There are So many brands you couldn't hardly begin to name all of them. Especially being shoved in front of a camera. So you called off your quick draw Fav's. "" No insult intended, Nor did I mean that in any negative way"" There are so many good mentions and so many factors as to how they were kept, and kept up or if they have had credible repairs. That does not mean a shop had to do the repairs, but someone that knew the right way and took the time and effort to do better than industry standard. I do enjoy your content. Cheers

I look only at offshore 24 to 28 feet, all boats with 3 piece hull with 24/25 dead rise at transom keeps their value, more if they have a flat deck from bow to stern and a bracket to mount to engines which increases the cockpit space. in the small boat range kencraft 25, Mckee freedom 24 and 28, regulator, competition are boats difficult to find you did not name, they certainly keep their value even though Mckee has been out of business since 2009 they still have their aficionados. Then there are the boats that keep their value because they are desirable because the brands have established a name, I had a scout 23, very poor handling, way too light and flat, mondays in wheel chair and teeth to re-glue, gradys, bostons are mass product, most old bostons are water logged and require to cut the deck open to replace foam.
