Stunning result. (I'm surprised you let the hairball play with it.) The skeleton looked so perfect in the assembly fixture that it looked like it belonged there. Then I was reminded of the quote, "A ship is safe in harbor, but that's not what ships are for"

What a beautiful model. That build jig/form or whatever you want to call it looks more complicated that the keel, frames and inwales you installed in it. Great job and looking forward to watching you complete the ship.

I just discovered your channel today. OMG what beautiful work. I've never met another female ship builder before. Was beginning to think I was all alone in the boys club. My current medium is plastic, brass, and steel modern ships but I have always wanted to try my hand at a wooden sailing kit. I can't wait to see more. I of course need to go catch up on all your past work though.

Hey Olha, glad to see you are well and building more boats for us to admire. These shallops are very sea-kindly, with their rounded chines and lap-strake planking. I replaced two bilge-chine planks on one way back in the early 1970's - was quite a chore, and we had to resort to steam-bending the planks. Amazed at your friend Pavel's kit - VERY exacting, and I think the jig for building is almost more difficult than the actual boatbuilding. Also amazed that, in the midst of a violent war, he manages to keep his business going. Maintaining that LASER cutter is not easy, even in peace time, and sourcing the materials must be doubly difficult. Considering ordering one of his kits just to help him along some. Are you of the Ukraine also? If so, I pray for your family and friends who are still there. Just ordered one of his kits - delivery in 10-20 days. Viking ship should be fun!

I received the kit just today (n° 15 if anyone is interested) and could not resist doing my own private unboxing right away 😛 I must say it's one of the most well organized, beautifully made kits I've ever seen. Quality materials, more than excelent instructions, no mere pieces of cord but actually winded ropes, quality photoedge and the list goes on ... I know what I'll be doing tonight 🙂 Really looking forward to the next parts of this series!

Olha, Again, Thank you so much for the build that you are doing on Pavel Nikitin’s model kit of the Shallop. In 2010 the NRG’s annual Conference was in Annapolis, Maryland. In walking about the harbor I came across a full scale rendition of the Shallop. The State of Maryland had commissioned the boat to be built for a teaching aid of the Colonial period. I have ten photos of the boat that you may find of interest. If you think that Pavel would like them, then by all means send them. If this is of interest, please advise how I can send them. Hello Olha, one question.Do you applied Tung Oil on the deck before all fittings are glued or after? I have troubles with the glued parts if oil is applied on wood before .... unions are very weak.

Olha, why did you assemble the jig without glue first?

Looks great but so much wasted wood in the jigs. My next model is the Bluenose from a company in China built the same way, your videos will certainly help me.
