I live in MS and we get a lot of tornados and tropical storms. As long as your phone isn't blaring warnings to get in the closet your pretty much straight. Downloading your local weather stations app is a good idea so you can get local info on the storm if your power goes out.

We lost power for 2 days. Huge trees down everywhere. Over 100mph straight line winds. Worse storm I’ve ever been in that wasn’t a tornado in 45 years. Wind was coming through our windows and doors blowing the curtains.
