I always thought the "red dot" meant that it's spicy beef. I'm not used to seeing other color dots, but I'd assume that green is for veggie. The chicken patty usually have a lighter color crust.

Yes. Marie’s patties was the best. I have never had a crust like that anywhere else. When they closed about 5 years ago when the owners retired, we were all so upset. All asking Mr. Chin how could he do that us. 😂

I think it was just me,they have a golden crust in Lawrenceville Georgia and when they first open,every body was there,you know the damn cook was straight out of Jamaica because the love was in the food and they change the damn cook and the food change,I went back years later and the food still horrible to this day,still so damn mad as helll😅😅😅😅😅

Whenever you hit up New York make sure you visit “Jamaican Flavors” here in Queens, NY… their patty is way better than Golden Krust. I am not crazy for GK patty because the crust is too thick. Don’t get me wrong but I know and understand that everyone has their preferences but I think you will like the patty from “Jamaican Flavors”. Ask anyone about “Jamaican Flavors” on block 165 & Jamaica Avenue in Queens. It’s a hot spot and a must stop for many folks that live outside of Queens etc…
It might be owned by a Jamaican but they have Central Americans working in the front or even the kitchen. However, they will have a Jamaican chef cooking the Jamaican foods. If a Caribbean/Jamaican is not cooking the food, then the food does not have a authentic Caribbean flavor and I don'tan go there anymore.

The dot usage is inconsistant. Sometimes green means veggies, then mild beef and other times chicken. Mild beef can also have no dot. Red usually is spicy beef. It is getting more confused when some places have patties with several dots of one color and other ones with one in the same color meaning different things 😂
I don't believe Sangos makes their own patties. Golden crust is just soso. If you get a chance and are in the Plantation area in Broward. (411&12) there are like 3 jamaican bakery there and a few restaurants as well. Here are a few patty shops to check out: Taste rite, butter Flakes, Hammonds, and Charlie's.
A couple of spots in the cut in Orlando has them. I don’t know how they taste because I’m a vegan ital food but a couple of spots have them here. You have to be careful with some spots in the cut in America. Some spots are commercialized and not authentic. For example escovich red snapper with no scotch bonnet pepper? What? Are you kidding me?
