I have discuss some problem related to Aspn Hysys, I am doing dew point reduction, gas sweetening and dehydration process after dew point depression (fluid pakage use PR, Basis 01) I was using sub flow sheet for gas sweetening (fluid pakage use Acid gases, Basis 02) and for this using MDEA (45% wt MDEA, 55% wt water) but problem is that at absorber outlet stream it will automatically select Basis 01 instead of Basis 02 and there is no MDEA stream there. excuse me eng. mohammed I have a little question.. I simulated the same cycle on HYSYS and after making recycle the pressure of "DE Amine to contactor" became 190 kpa and the pressure of its inlet stage to contactor is about 6864 kpa !!! how could it go from 190 to 6864 kpa ??

Well Recycle object is very critical.. it change all your plant values in order to reach the proper values that achieve Recycling.. Anyways if you didn't save the old plant i can send you the (hsc) file of my plant.. and also am working on Optimized one through [Dynamic Simulation] i will send it to you as soon as possible.. Thank you very much..¤¤ However the PSA: (Pressure swing adsorption) Process can't not be simulated in Aspen hysys coz Aspen hysys is a Thermodynamic tool deals onlys with gases and liquids beside some exceptions.. But it can't deal with the solid reaction kinetics of adsorption processes.. Anyways PSA can be simulated in many other apps..

Thanks for responding to my question, I was going to just model the PSA as a splitter, but I'm not sure how inaccurate that would be. I'll probably try modeling it in Aspen Plus. Also, do you have any videos on modeling hydrotreaters in a refinery? HYSYS V9.0 has a naphtha hydrotreater that is quite good, but I only have access to V8.6 now which means I think that I'd need a kinetic model to model the hydrotreater, right? Would you happen to have any tips for me on where to find information that I need to model a hydrotreater (naphtha, kero, diesel, as well as FCC feed/gasoline)? Are you going to make any amazing videos for these process units too? (I've seen your hydrodesulfurization video, which helps a lot already)

Perfect.. 1-Ok Before answering your points actually (Hydrotreating) is very simple concept which obviousely means : (Making simple Reaction with hydrogen in order to remove unwanted material or to improve our product) Thats all !! But when we trying to implement this kind of reactions in Refining processes the Applications would be very complicated specially if you want to get the accurate results (coz you need to set the proper type of catalyst, reactor selection, reactor conditions, streams compositions.. accurately) coz all these are very critical specifications. 2-To be honest i have'nt any videos about hydrotreating but am planning to start a new series on April for Process Optimization through Aspen [Plants case studies].. and i think i'll do like three examples on some Refining processes but am still confused about the choices [Distillation, Cracking, Hydrotreating, Reforming..etc] ! but i guess yeah i'll choose the Hydrotreating just to cover the processes that havn't designed before. 3-No the Hydrotreating processes "or most of them" can be done on hysys V8.4 and even on V7.3 but definately Aspen V9.0 is the best.. anyways if you working on a hydrotreating plant you can send me the layout or just some details about your plant and i'll tell you how to run the simulation "if it can be done".. THANK YOU very much again! I've seen some hydrotreating examples that came with HYSYS readily, but the problem is that I want to see the effect of hydrogen on sulfur removal, while the examples in HYSYS set the sulfur content first. I also seem to be able to run those models even if I remove the hydrogen stream. Only the V9.0 built in naphtha hydrotreater allows me to play with the amount of hydrogen being sent to the hydrotreater and see the effect on the sulfur content of the product. I'll send you an email to explain my problem and my purpose.

Yeah thats will be great.. But you know what ? Thats wt exactly [ Aspen Case Studies ] can do.. It lets you see the effect of any specification of any stream or unit on anything you like.. But as i told Aspen V9.0 present, and allows you to build, monitor and evaluate the process in better way..

However the Wet Gas feed can take wide ranges of pressures (3Kpa to 6Kpa) even it can goes up to 8Kpa in some cases coz actually it havn't that effect as much as the feed Molar flow.. Mohammad Assir thank you for your answer. I am currently setting up the problem so I do not have any simulation files yet... I am trying to find out what is the pressure and temperature of the wet gas stream in order to separate accordingly the dry gas stream... That's where I am stuck now... Any suggestions?

Thank you very much Mohamed i really appreciate that.. and the best way to get the complete version of Aspen hysys 7.3 is to buy the original CD or to copy the software source from any Chemical Engineer or even Chemical Engineering students. or maybe you find it in any Oil & Gas training center. But don't try online links.. coz some important cracks will be missed which will harm your device !!

Perfect Question Alex.. I really liked it.. actually I should change the Fluid Package before converging the Recycle Option.. I Should change it from (Amine Package to Peng Robenson) and then converge it but I forgot that.. anyways it still on steady state if you noticed.. which means it worked.. and even a lot of references keep that "its ok" ! But just change the Fluid Package (as I did in Video 2) and it will work ! and if it didn’t just tell me I will do it with you one by one till it work.. no worries..**

Or it can be done with the same Package but you have to add a lot units which will be lil complicated..
