Your first stretch actually could stretch your glutes and abs but it does not stretch your lower back. To stretch a muscle it needs to be elongated. Bending backwards actually does not elongate your lower back, it "shortens" it. Otherwise, good video as always!

Nice tips for this stance!Ugggh I hate my slow healing process of my knee surgery because I would so practice this. Especially since the kokutsu dachi is a major part of my favorite kata so far. Well kokutsu and kiba dachi are part of my favorite kata and well I'm much better with kokutsu dachi than kiba dachi.
Great video. Do you have any advice when stepping back into Kokutsu Dachi. I struggle to stay low and maintain the same height. Most of the time I have to take a small step off the front foot. Obviously for my Kata this is not ideal
