im smoking reading your comment, of you, 1 hour smoking, listening to to David Lynch listening to rain and smoking, reflecting on him reflecting on art
I wish everyone could feel the transcendent experience of writing a story, building a universe from scratch, taking every single experience you've had into account and being alone with your thoughts. There's nothing like it. Nothing more satisfying than being able to read a full fledged novel that came from no one but yourself. Even if you don't think you have it in you, give it a try. Art is beautiful because humanity is Beautiful. Love you all.
I was watching a jk rowling video and thought that must really enrich experience having this day to day unifying world to craft into , riding inspiration wave for extended duration Like the way u put this How did you form an opening for the story? maybe u start with the title to develop ideas from?
@@ayy2193 it really is an incredible way enrich your life, I'm much much happier in general now that i have stories to work on every single day! I'll be honest, the opening scene just came to me as i sat down to write it after watching return of the king. I knew i wanted to write a fantasy, i knew i wanted the main character to be a powerful woman of a long dead race of superhumans of sorts with a touch of insanity, return all i knew. Whatever your opener may be just make sure that it's very engaging for the reader, like throw a little bit of action in the very first scene Or intense dialogue. They say the first couple of lines of your story make or break it so just make sure whatever you write it's engaging. And don't worry so much, it's all a learning process, just sit down and write and the words will come to you!
@@lesbiansaregoodandch cool. thanks so u set a broad intention with a genre and a character outline , took in a related masterful work and sat down to see what flows from it. Yeh that struck me as key in film breaking bad is a nice example of that, can imagine reading the script like ok here's something with life, right away im in with the opening sequence curious. Or the dance with dragons prologue descriptiveness absorbing u in environment
@@ayy2193 exactly! Just keep referencing your favorite books or tv shows as a guide without directly copying them. For example i use the events of the first two mass effects as a narrative guide of sorts, that being a main baddy to hunt down, collecting a team and lots of works building and investigation in between.
This is like the loading screen of life, giving tips to us on how to play, slow meditative video and ambient sounds, the music is also great for a menu screen. It reminds me of the game limbo

if your listening to this while in the rain how do you not ruin your headphones, you must have a hood, and wouldn't that be an example of not being intimate with nature because you have your dog to distract you and you can't hear the wind..?
I watched this today while it was too hot outside, blue skies with just a single, small cloud visible. And just now, a thunderstorm like I have never seen in my entire life came crashing down out of nowhere. So I stood on the balcony, had a cigarette, listened to the rain and thunder and felt truly blessed. Life can be beautiful.
Netflix and they're poor riding in poor production is the problem with today's movie industry Netflix should not be involved in movies and good films they have proven they cannot handle it
I had the worst day of my life yesterday. But now, im sitting under my awning. Smoking, drinking whiskey, and listening to the rain around me, and listening to this. It feels like some kind of therapy
@@nightcrawler6229Glad things are getting better, hope they still are! Also weird coincidence, I watched night crawler like two days ago for the first time haha
My favorite thing about his stories is that he never draws conclusions from them, or else he never shares his conclusions with the listener. Like his films, it's as if he is begging for you to take from these stories what you will. I like to imagine he doesn't draw conclusions because the trains of thought he rides off of these happenings never stop at any station and in fact are independent of any tracks, they just go and go and he rides until he dies.
Its awesome- seen 4 times in theatres and got the soundtrack! He said he could make blade runner and alien films for the rest of his life!!! Oh boy oh joy! Joi?
I am preparing to celebrate my first Midsommar with my family-in-law, and I just received a devastating message from a childhood friend suffering from untreated schizophrenia. I can't tell you how much this video is helping me feel calm, centered, and ready to have a terrific day full of beautiful blue skies and golden sunshine all along the way ❤
you can buy little things that make rain sounds. It helps me sleep and I'm gonna try listening to it when I write. You can set it to different programs.
@@eduardo_corrochio I found this from High Snobriety: "On DL's Hair: He runs some waxy pomade through his hair before brushing it back and hitting it with hairspray. The initial investment of 10 minutes time makes it so that even after a few days without showering, he can put in a little more pomade, brush his hair back and spray it in a matter of minutes and be ready to go."
Beyond the appearance, beneath the surface is a poet philosopher filmmaker who is a beacon in a mysterious galaxy of an uncertain purpose. Our purpose may be to dig deeper to the core or farther out to the universe. You must have clarity to see and feel truly. Thanks David for your words and works.
I dont know why I can keep listening to this with my adhd, whether its David Smoking in silence in the rain, or the soundtrack, or both, I feel like doing this is my ideal environment after a hard days work
This is more like having a dialogue with a hearthfelt friend. Just truth, almost like I can actually talk to him. Thank you whoever did this and as always, thank you officer Cole.
For anyone interested, there's another "sequel" just like this uploaded on this lovely guys channel. You should definitely give it some listen, if your working or resting hours crave more lynchian discussions with the self. :)
There is a relationship between living and inanimate things, a deep understanding , beyond words even , it can only be described in sound colour and moment even then only few of us understand, we develop acquaintance in what ever we choose to study, this can become so deep it is very difficult for others to grasp.
This is my favourite quote of his, but it's not universal. H.P. Lovecraft's writing was fueled by his anxiety and paranoia. He may be a fringe example, but I'm sure you can name some others.
I'd love a radio show (or podcast) where people just talk about things they love to do, like petting dogs, and talk about it unabashedly, but not in this hypervoiced manner where people constantly get hyped about their own stories. Just a regular conversation, where listeners can fill in the emotional blanks.

This takes me back to the day i watched 'Twin Peaks' pilot episode for the first time. such a wonderful atmospheric piece of art it is. God bless this man.
Every since I saw Eraserhead back in the early 80's I have felt to connected to David Lynch's way of looking at things. It would be a real privilege to be able to sit with this brilliant man an just talk about whatever while the rain is coming down like in this video. I grew up in Philadelphia from where Eraserhead was inspired. I have been an artist and musician most of my life and found that I am unable to relate to most people around me who lead mundane and shallow lives. For them, the entire meaning of life is work and sports and mindless TV. Anything outside of that realm and you're a weirdo like me.
sport is awesome(not the money making bs but just making sport is something beautiful) art is something i feel like most ppl dont even give it a chance because they are put off my the elitist art ppl and that they feel might get ridiculed for liking certain things wich i think has a lot to do with the elitist thinking
This has to be one of the most beautiful works I've ever experienced Edit: The atmosphere of ambient music, rain, and the incredibly still and melancholic visuals remind me of Rabbits. (The David Lynch 'sitcom' not the fluffy bunnies.)
