The game of Basketball has been my passion since I was 5 years old. I grew up as a kid watching my dad's recorded VHS tapes of playoff games through the 70s and 80s, and collected all the Basketball cards. Something about the game and what it represents just hooked me from a very young age.
My love for the game only continues to grow as time goes on. I love studying and analyzing the game, with an unbiased perspective. Feel free to subscribe, follow me on social media, and celebrate this amazing game and it's rich history with me!
I post videos every week on NBA history, predictions, hypothetical scenarios and current NBA topics.

Scottie's greatness as a defender was not his 1-on-1 defense. He was a very good on-ball defender, but his greatness lied in his rare ability to trap effectively and then recover with enough quickness and length to prevent the offense's counter. This made him perfect for doubling down on the best bigs in the post and then rotating quickly enough to prevent open 3s. More importantly, however, many of the Bulls' defense schemes relied on Scottie aggressively trapping the opposing primary ball-handler to force them to give up the ball....and then recover to his own man quickly. This forced the opposition out of their primary set and put the ball in the hands of players who were not accustomed to having to make plays on their own outside of their "system". Once that happened, the quickness of Scottie/Michael/H Grant just feasted on the chaos that ensued as non-playmakers tried to make plays. They didn't do this all of the time...but when they did (usually in the 3rd quarter), it was akin to "Unleashing the Dobermans" as Johnny Bach used to say.

I think that everyone misses the Lebron Pippen comparison. It’s actually 100% spot on. Obviously Lebron is superior in virtually every aspect. But he really does play an incredibly similar game. He can, and does, do everything. Just like Pippen. He just does everything better. And in some cases (scoring), much better. On one hand, you can’t compare a Ferrari to a 5.0 Mustang. But on the other hand, you can certainly say that they come from the same mold. Furthermore, no one ever said that Pippen’s prime was on par with Barkley and Malone. The idea that Pippen was the second best player was specifically for the 3 year stretch from 94-96. It was really meant to say that after Jordan, Pippen was in the conversation for next best player. He finished 3rd, 7th, and 5th in MVP voting respectively those years. And as someone who watched tons of Bulls games during those years, believe me those votes were very much deserved. Barkley and Chris Webber each referred to him as the best player in the league, at some point during (I believe) the 95 season. Were they right? Probably not. Were they crazy for saying it? If you think they were, you weren’t watching. He also was never quite the same after the back surgery that he had before the 98 season.

Because of Pippen, Reggie Miller hits the go ahead 3 to tie the series at 2-2 when the Bulls could have been up 3-1 Game 6, Pippen only had 1 point in the 4th quarter. I completely agree with you about these Jordan worshippers. Some of them are approaching the LeBron Cult with the diminishing of Scottie Pippen like they do to lift up Jordan (who doesn't need it). After years of going back and forth for decades I have finally came to the conclusion that Michael Jordan had the most dominant and greatest career of all time. But to act as of he is so far ahead of Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Magic Johnson is going way to far in my opinion. During the time of the second 3Peat I started to notice how the NBA and the basketball media started to diminish Scottie Pippen and the the other Bulls great and good players to reduce them to the "Jordanairs" and that pissed me off and made me start to have disdain for Jordan. Reason being all those players were essential along with Phil Jackson and Tex Winter's coaching to making those Bulls teams great. Though I do agree with how Scottie has gone about it I can understand why he has some resentment for how he is portrayed and the downplaying of his career and accomplishments.

Alot of Guys at school back then though Pippen was almost just as good as Jordan and some people would pattern some of their game after Pippen. Some would say Pippen actually puts the ball higher in the air than Jordan. That is that thing that really mattered in the 90's. It's like all People would talk about. I grew up watching the Bulls...and I mean almost every game thanks to WGN. Scottie belongs in the top 50 in my book, but there were definitely shortcomings in his game. While he was lethal in the open court, he struggled to create his own shot in the half-court. He was able to find opportunities thanks to the triangle, but he wasn't a natural scorer as became increasingly obvious when he left the Bulls to go to Houston/Portland. He was inconsistent at the freethrow line...and having him at the line in crunch-time was not confidence-inspiring for Bulls fans. People always point to the 93-94 season as how great Scottie is. The MVP voting. The 55 wins. They played well, but I also remember that there were several times where Scottie let his emotions get the best of him. He had multiple ejections that year and even a suspension for throwing a chair onto the court...and all of this led up to his famous sitting out of the final play against the Knicks in the playoffs. I'm not sure Scottie had the mental fortitude to be "the guy" when things got tough. He and Michael were a fantastic pairing. There was a lot overlap in their talents...but only Michael had the scoring prowess and the intensity that lifted those teams to all-time great territory. In the end, Scottie may ultimately be a bit overrated in general. One of the greatest #2's of all time...and there ain't a thing wrong with that.

If you don't appreciate what Scottie did on the court, especially on the defensive side, then you don't know basketball. The reason Scottie was not the scorer Jordan was or even an elite scorer is because he only averaged 13.3 fga / game on 47.3% shooting where Jordan averaged 22.9 fga / game on 49.7% shooting. He was the most productive player on and off of the stat sheet regardless. He made sure the other team had to be worried about him which made MJ more dominant and not able to be double teamed continuously. If they both had the same number of shot attempts Scotty scoring would have went up but I believe they probably would have lost more games because of Scottie's lack of focus and his selfishness just to be a scorer. He was an all around complimentary player to MJ who was elite as a primary scorer and defender. Superman and Batman.
@davidmartinez52420

The reason Scottie wasn't the scorer Jordan was is because he wasn't nearly as dynamic a scorer. He couldn't create for himself in the halfcourt and he was a streaky shooter. Your stats are a bit flawed too, though they're close. You're using overall career stats instead of just when they played together. In their 10 years as teammates, Scottie shot 47.9% on 14.5 attempts per game while Jordan shot 50.1% on 23.3 attempts per game. Plus, Jordan was a much better free throw shooter.

When Jordan retired the first time and only won 2 less games than the year before. Both those 3peat Bulls teams had the best rebounder in the league (Dennis Rodman), two of the most accurate shooters in the league (John Paxton and Steve Kerr) , one of the best European players at that point off the bench (Toni Kukoc) and one if the top 7 power forwards (Horace Grant) during those 6 Bulls championship years. (you kids don't know 90's Ball) Then it didn't put him out yet, Then the Next game they slamed him again when he was taking flight from near the foul line in a half court set. Which is unheard of. So he has the ball up around 11 1/2 feet in the air, he's near Eye Level with the Rim and about half way to the rim from 14 feet out and Zo and PJ Grab him out of the Air as hard as they can. It is still the most dirty player I've seen in Sports History Slammed Him to the Ground on his Back Under the Rim. Riley knew the Refs and league wouldn't do anything cause Pippen falls under a different insurance policy legally speaking. 6'11 275 Pound Zo and 6'10 255 PJ Brown Look back at him right after the with a scowl on their face and a decoyed Shrug "was that enough" With their plams out, Before Rodman Slamed Zo Mourning to the Ground.

If you look at those playoff stat comparisons Scottie only marginally put up higher numbers in those other areas. MJ was carrying almost just as much of a load as Scottie in all those areas plus completely dominating offensively. For me it just increases the margin of difference between the importance of the 2 players in the team. Also Pippen wasnt a clutch player throughout his career before and after the Bulls

Larry Bird needed a former Finals MVP Dennis Johnson to guard the likes of Isiah Thomas and a stacked frountcourt of Parish and McHale to man the paint and take care of the boards with him. No one mentions how they never singlehandedly carried teams to wins like Jordan did with his best teammate Pippen struggling. 1998 Finals vs Jazz - 15.7 ppg on 41%, 6.8 rpg, 4.8 apg In Game 1, Pippen had 21 points on a terrible 37% and 1 assist to 5 turnovers. Jordan only had 2 assists in this game, because his teammates shot a combined 40% - In spite of all that poor play, Jordan sent the Bulls to overtime with his game-tying assist to Luc Longley - With the Bulls down 3 in overtime, Jordan set up Pippen for a wide-open 3, but Pippen bricked it as the Bulls lost Game 1. Even though Jordan lost this game with his team struggling, he at least put his team in a position to win by setting up Longley for the tying-assist, and setting up Pippen for a wide-open 3. Sure, the 1988 Cavs roster may not have Hall of Famers, but the fact remains, MJ averaged 45.2 points on 63.2% true shooting with 5.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game against a top five defensive team that season. Pippen of whom had some valuable contributions in that series, but wasn’t averaging anything extreme (10.6 points per game on 49.4% true shooting, 5.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists I believe), and he didn’t even start all five games. However, MJ ultimately needed Pippen to win his championships, and get past Detroit. I haven’t looked at the games between Jordan and Bird, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it went poorly vs Boston (who was amazing in 1986 and still one of the best in 1987).

Pippen played with more talented roaster than MJ ever had and still could not win anything ,MJ and Pippen took advantage of playing with one another but Pippen had more than enough opportunities to win without MJ and never did. Had MJ played in that Blazers team they would have won

@@zaden176 They wouldn't win more or even 6. they are not the defenders or point Forwards Pippen is. Kawhi is injury prone so he can only win like 2 with Jordan. Baylor, come on don't make me laugh. Wilkins can score and shoot but the Bulls need a point Forward that Can Run an offense and get the Right guys the Ball also they Need another Wing Defender or atleast an All Star Center. Pippen is a Superstar. He started in many all Star Games and Won All Star Game MVP in the most competitive one ever played. They played it competitive cause Pippen was in the game. Just in Shear Athleticism, Flightnight Pippen is an ALL TIME TOP 5. Think about it. He's 6'8, Wingspan 7'3, hands 12, feet 16, Can Wing UP and Square off with 6'10 and even 7'1 players. Go look it up. There is high resolution eyes view perspective of him Sizing up against Shaq in the 96 Olympics Practice. Then in 97 He sizes up against Ostertag. NightFlight Pippen Is the Fastest and Quickest Player in NBA/ABA, He jumped the farthest too and the highest off one leg. He is in the discussion for best one leg leaper of all time with Julius, Glide and Air. I actually vote he is the best one leg leaper of alltime. AS for Two leg leaping and drop step leaping, He is 4th all time for G's and F's. There with Jordan, Kemp and Wilkins. He beats out Drexler here he barely beats out Kobe and Carter here. In Overall Athleticism and Natural Athleticism I'd rank all time like this 1. Jordan 2. David Robinson 3. Kemp 4. Pippen 5. Drexler 6. Dr. Julius 7. Wilt 8. Dawkins 9. Larry Johnson before the injuries 10. Penny before the injuries 11. Carter 12. Porzingis 13. Amare 14. Wilkins 15. Kobe 16. L. James 17. J. Worthy 18. Shaq 19. Garnett 20. Duncan Those are the top 20 most gifted in natural Athleticism. Hm Iverson, Bird, Magic, Finley, Hakeem, Barkley, Webb, Kawhi (inch for inch Webb is top 2)

@jonnyarnett bruh Without pippen Jordan never won more than 40 games ,despite having Orlando Wooldridge who gave him 22ppg while playing in a trash conference where the 6th 7th and 8th seeds all had losing records bruh.. Jordan has a losing record every single season Without pippen. Not saying he was supposed to beat those Celtics in the 80s but at minimum have a winning regular season record. Why do you think Jordan puts pippen in his top 5? Because pippen's impact on winning is more valuable than Jordan's is. Go read Phil Jackson's article he breaks down why pippen was more valuable.. the sad part is because you don't like that he said it ,you brush it off as an ulterior motive without context to why he would make the statements.. Typical fan boy behavior on your part.. epic fail. Go read the article

It can't be like you claimed to "Raise his confidence" because they're no longer playing at this time.. your videos have great content without a doubt, but you rely on stats to much without the proper context, you use team metrics to determine how good a single player is.. like the video you did on kobe's Defensive box plus minus. those same metrics you use, also says that Manu ginobli was a better defender than Pippen, Artest, Mutumbo just to name a few all time great defenders.. those metrics 100% contradict the reality of what's being seen on the basketball court

What's the real point of this video? Pippen is in the damn Hall of Fame & is highly respected by former & current NBA payers & by fans around the world. Nobody disses Pippen on the court skills. He gets dissed because of his weak personality traits off the court & sometimes on the court. I remember watching the Bulls vs Pistons game 7 with about 15 other guys. At the end of the game, everyone there said, the Bulls will win it all next year if Pippen gets his head straight. The next year Pippen had his head straight. MJ fans don't diss Pippen either. However, whoever was gonna play in that spot would've been turned into what Pippen became, because MJ would've made sure that happened. Pippen was weak-minded in his first three years & MJ helped him fix that. Pippen himself admitted that fact. He said, "I don't know what type of player I would've been if not for MJ." He said that while he was still an active player.

"head straight". apparently you never had a migraine or been popped in the face. You need to be popped in the face. Medical term for what he had was a growth spurt in his brain and his skull was trying to catch up. Apparently he was a genuis cause his brain grew so much in his young 20's. that summer his skull grew larger and he put on 2 more inches of height and 3 more inches of arm length. His hands and feet grew aswell. in his peak he was 6'9 230 with a 7'3 wingspan 12 inch hands and 16 inch feet. Also he developed into the quickest and fastest player ever with or without the ball. they clocked him as being faster and quicker than Usain Bolt. Scotie Pippen is the Fastest Human that ever Lived. That trot he had is faster than lebron running all out

@@sideshowbobsaget8876 No, you have to have context. In the 90's everyteam except the Bulls had several All Stars. The Bulls with Pippen only had Rookie Kukoc and Steve Kerr yet Pippen still had them as the 7 seed when Jordan started to come back. Name the other player back then that gets them to the 7 seed with JUST Kerr and Kukoc of which Kukoc wasn't a finished player yet and was still trying to find his game in the NBA. I'm talking about 94-95 since you don't want to talk abotu 93-94. 94-95 Pippen was even better and led the Bulls in Scoring, Rebounding, Assists, Steals and Blocks. Becoming the first player to everdoso for a Franchise in a Season. Had a team that was a 18-64 team in the 7th seed in the East this was when the East was at it's best ALL TIME.
