Great video! To me, it seems like a subwoofer revolution is happening. The sound quality and sheer output is steadily increasing, as well as the value per $. Most everything else just seems to be simply over priced, to the point of being ridiculous. Arendal is a great product, no question. Would love to see how they do against the new kid on the block...Tonewinner!! Keep up the great work!

Ardenal 1723 monitors owner here,and recently i added the 1723 1V sub to the lineup. Flawless integration and top notch performance. I also added the Tonewinner sw-D4000 last week based on your recommendation. Funny, I too got the European version power cord in the box. Love your channel. Cheers from Calgary.

I've had a single 1723 2S for a little over a year now. Prior to that, i had a pair of REL T7i subs. The single Arendal wipes the floor with the pair of REL subs. When I bought the Arendal, I thought I'd soon be adding another sub. However, I've not felt the need to do that. I have the sub placed 45° to one of the front corners of the room. After running sweeps (Anthem ARC) and playing around with moving the sub slightly out from the wall...and a bit of PEQ, I'm in pretty good shape with the single sub. The 2S is great for both music and HT. It's a high quality match for my B&W 805D3s. Still very impressed!

do you think you lost fidelity with the 1723 2s?
@mtkreger

@@jdm724 In comparison to the REL subs? Absolutely not. The Arendal has much larger drivers than the T7i subs...and much better grip on the lower frequencies. It blends very well with my B&W 805d3 speakers.

@@SpecOfTech No, I wish I did! Great reviews like yours are absent for them too, which is a shame in 2024…they only seem to sell to reviewers, I think that’s how Shane Lee got his F18s. I really wonder how they’d do against an RS1 for substantially less.

Hi Spec of Tech Just wondering if you could do a review on XTZ 3x12 subwoofer, and Tonewinner D8000, I live in Ireland, so I don't really have access to the American brand subs, your channel is great 👍. Regards

The dual drivers in phase with each other, or are they out of phase with each other?

I understand that a single 2V will have substantially more raw output than any number of 2S' but, to ask a complicated question while hoping for a simple answer, for a generally better and more even room response (using Dirac Bass Control) in an 11'x14' rectangle would it be preferable to have 2 or even 4 2S subs (probably in the corners) versus a single 2V? Obviously 2 or 4 2Vs would be great but that's impossible with my room size constraints.
@SpecOfTech
@SpecOfTech 4 месяца назад
I always recommend multiple subwoofers, so out of those choices I would recommend multiple 2S's over a single 2V. You will still have PLENTY of output, and because you would be using multiple subwoofers, the response around the room would be smoother (better).

I can see the smaller sub in China. The brand is called “Fans” here. It has auto eq which is a great function. Which is better? Additionally, there is a brand called Taulssen that sell a sealed 15 inch for about the same price. Do you have any experience of those? Thanks. I read in another comment of yours that these are more expensive Tonewinner in Canada. The smaller sub is the same price as a D4000 in China. I would assume that the larger one is the same as a D6000. Potentially in my case it’s great value as you said that 2x13.5 drivers equate to 21 inches! They are all significantly cheaper here before duties.

Barret, I am in a dilemma. Arendal 1723 2S or XR 13. Which one did you like more?
@SpecOfTech
@SpecOfTech 4 месяца назад
I haven't had a chance to measure the Arendal subs yet. I would guess the Arendal 2S will have more output given it's double the cone are, but we'll see. If based on looks alone, I'd choose the XR13. It's such a good looking subwoofer IMO. If output is your goal, then I am quite certain the 2S will have more good clean output. The XR13 is $5000 USD for 1, you could get 2 Arendal 2S for $5800 USD. For $800 more you would get A LOT more bass by adding a second 2S, versus a single XR13.
@AlmightyGTR
@AlmightyGTR 4 месяца назад
@@SpecOfTech You are the man. Ordering Arendal 2s. With discount I could get XR13 for 5.5k Canadian pesos, and arendal 2s for 4k. Given your point on cone area, which makes sense, pulling the trigger.

How do they compare to the Tonewinner D6000 15inch subs ??????? Is the sound quality close to the same 🍿🎬
@SpecOfTech
@SpecOfTech 5 месяцев назад
I haven't compared them, and haven't had much time listening to the Arendal subwoofers. So, it wouldn't be fair for me to make any sort of definitive statement. My first impression is that they have a similar low tone/throaty type sound. The Arendals are much more expensive and have dual 13.8" drivers, which when added up, have similar cone area to about a 21" driver. With that in mind, they should have lower distortion at louder volumes and shouldn't compress as soon as the Tonewinner. I haven't measured the Arendal, so those are just guesses. Once I have a chance to measure them and compare that to the Tonewinner measurements, I can't say any of that for sure. Regardless of all that, the Tonewinners are still one hell of a budget buy.

better than funk and harbottle?
@SpecOfTech
@SpecOfTech 4 месяца назад
In would really depend on which model. I have not heard all the Funk or Harbottle models. In my experience they charge a large premium for the more premium cabinets. Don't get me wrong they are fantastic subwoofers, but the exorbitant prices are mainly due to the cabinet.

Well im running a 9.3.4 set up and my 3 subs are audiovector qr 10 inch subs. Im just not getting the output i want from them little guys Lol. They sound amazing but they bottom out very easy so im going to get 2 tonewinner D6000s. Im running my set up with the tonewinner at300 and i just love how good it sounds for the cost. I live in a 2 bedroom apartment on the top floor and nobody lives on top of me or beside me just under me. So do you think i will notice a big difference in output with the 15s ???????... Or do you think it will just add a noticeable amount of distortion compared to my 3 sealed 10 inch subs. I love the channel and because of you i now deal with summit hi-fi and love the company and quality they provide. 🍿🎬
@SpecOfTech
@SpecOfTech 4 месяца назад
Hey Rick, good to hear you are loving the AT300. Your setup sounds pretty impressive, but I agree you need bigger better subs haha. There is a common misconception that sealed is less distorted than ported, but the opposite is true. A ported subwoofer is more efficient because of the ports. A sealed subwoofer has to fight against the suction and the pressure of its sealed cabinet, a ported subwoofer does not...as much. So to answer your question, you will not be introducing more distortion, if anything you are reducing it with a ported subwoofer. I have no doubt that 2 D6000's would put a smile on your face. Let me know how happy you are after you get them set up in your space haha.

@@SpecOfTech ports can make some noise though. and the ported subs are often a bit more sluggish and less controlled listening to music, in my limited experience. but im sure you have a lot of apples to apples going back and forth, which I largely have not
