I find it helpful to read each book of the Bible with the foreknowledge of what kind of text it is. Is it a poem? Is it a letter to a specific person/group of people? Is it historical reporting?
My friend and I were just discussing this the other day. I find it helpful to pray immediately after I read the Bible, and also to read it as I would a novel (rather than a self help book). But sometimes (oftentimes), the passage I’m reading is really very fitting to what is on my heart. For example, I just learnt of the death of one of my relations yesterday, and sure enough, the chapter I read this morning featured three separate deaths (Rebekah's nurse, Rachel, and Isaac). I don’t think that was a coincidence.
There's still much to learn... the Holy Bible is always so exciting, there's always something new you can receive insight from G-d. It is a LIVELY collecition of 📚📖🌠!
