Linux mint is so perfect to start with and even stay with who doesn't heavily wanna customize or go deep in to things like with other distros. If it wasn't for gaming and this kind of easy begin distro I would of never switched earlier this year.
Mint intends to soon offer an iso with a newer kernel (Edge Edition), overcoming most of the problems with recent hardware support. Furthermore, I believe this problem is easy to solve with the Ubuntu Mainline Kernel software. An interesting issue is that the analyzes about the transition from Windows to Linux distributions come exactly from content creators for RU-vid (of course!), who have very specific equipment and software used by few people. I saw some people who just couldn't use their microphones, which are from brands that don't support Linux. Still, I saw that you had few problems with your workflow on Mint because it is already fully adapted to Linux. I only use the PC to play games and work with text (and I use Mint for this). Another distribution that has become friendly to non-advanced users is Fedora, but the installation process is more complex than it should be.
11:10 I have the black screen issue when installing drivers on my Windows machine as well. So, to me, this is not unique to Linux Mint, or any Linux distro as a whole. I feel as though we've become so used to the constant crashing, errors, bugs and driver issues with Windows that we don't realize how often these issues come up. Then, when we go to a Linux distro and see similar issues, it's fresh to use and we don't make the proper comparisons to what reality is within Windows.
Good point! I think you are mentioning the fact the screen are flickering to black for like 2 to 5 sec when installing drivers on Windows. However, the experience for an NVIDIA driver version upgrade on Linux Mint is a black screen until hard reset (with the case switch)... Not an issue related to my hardware as it was easily reproducible on other people PC. On my Arch, NVIDIA driver install / upgrade never blacked screen on me... Running an openSUSE Tumbleweed challenge now, and the drivers install / upgrade are not generating this type of bug.
