Thank you brethern for sharing these words of life. Maryann and I have followed taylor and tyler for the past 4 years, and now we are happy to join with you ( taylor and mike ) for one day of the week, as well as joining with tyler for one day of the week. The beautiful thing is how there is always something worthy of note that captures our attention sufficient enough to cause us to pause and to prayerfully ponder each of these study sessions. We also have one day in the week that we watch the video on the same study session. We commence the first two days in our week by reading the assigned scripture passages. This immersion in the scriptures has greatly multiplied our joy in living the gospel. Thank you from a little seaside town on the north tip of Vancouver island, British Columbia. HEBEL EST OMNIS ADAM

I love that idea of if we can't forgive right now set it aside, I remember this concept when reading the discourses of Brigham Young, he said if there was a new concept that he just couldn't accept he would put it up on a shelf in the closet of his mind and leave it there and revisit it from time to time until he was able to fully understand and accept the principle. I have done this same thing as a Catholic convert, set it aside until the Spirit can teach us and our hearts can soften to the new idea or principle, over time.

21:23 I really love that you referred to living like we are in the celestial kingdom now as a celestial lifestyle. I’ve been trying to figure out how to articulate that sentiment for along time. I never connected it to this parable. Love it!

I so agree. I was in a teaching situation a little while ago and I was teaching in the institute class Book of Mormon teachings. I tried to explain that eternal life is a description of the life that God lives. We don't have to wait until the Savior comes back to enjoy the fruits of eternal life, Because that is the point of Lehi's dream! !!! As we stay on the path, we experience reaching the tree and partaking of the fruit we do that every single day and we can commemorate that every Sunday in Sacrament meeting. I'm not looking to wait for blessings of the fruit of the Tree of Life, I can experience them as I stay on the path❤

I have listened to several commentaries this week. Maybe I didn't slow down enough but I got things from this segment that I have not received before in this week! The comments regarding Nephii being loosed from his bands, the small plates of Nephi being at the very end of Joseph Smith's translations and what President Ballard said about knowing if someone has repented. Thank you!

The Church has moved so far away from nature, we no longer have access to the powerful symbols and analogies throughout scripture (primarily agricultural). Jesus taught this way (Moses 6:63). Joseph Smith taught way. Our leadership has for too long depended on Babylon-the secular world for food and fulfillment, so that we no longer conceptualize that covenant always pertained to People and Place. We invest in building shopping malls to support secular economy (City Creek), instead of producing pure bread, clean water, and the holy linen made from flax. It’s tragic.

What's interesting is that we teach using what is familiar. If more of us were hunters or fishermen, or farmers, then those contextualized stories would be valuable. As circumstances change, teaching approaches (though not necessarily principles) may change.

@@ScriptureInsightsLearning , that is a politician’s response. The ancient temple festivals were centralized by agriculture. The temporal function of the temple was to order closed economy-consecrated economy. The idea that we change teachings to fit “the times,” is precisely how Israel falls apart, following false traditions. What’s left is an evangelical, self-help methodology for teaching (which permeates much of the Church). The flock is scattered and starved, malnourished, by shepherds who serve the institution above the congregation.
