2025 followup: takeover bid fails,.....DISNEY stock continues to tank. Selloff results in short term buyback and cash infusion to benefit Florida parks,..... INVESTORS loose big time. Board continues woke / DEI agenda,....stock now at all time low. Disney forced to sell assets. Stock drops further. Peltz proved right and very, very glad he sold out in favorable "120" deal in 2024. Disney is a mom and pop stock, with board held majority stakeholders,.....board sells off, mom and pop,....go broke.
Well, this is a man I would love to chat and have tea with. He reminds me of my dad, who passed away last year. So humble, intelligent and determined. I literally cried because he is just so good and made Disney one of the greatest companies in the world. Walt should be proud. I will buy his book for sure!
WHEN IS PRIDE FAMILY GOING TO BE PUBLICALLY ADRESSED? This activism towards false narratives using children's cartoons is highly inappropriate and I love disney.
Bob Iger isn't the best boss nor the worst but he definitely has made major mistakes in his career. He's lucky to have had Kevin Feige while the television division and video game management have been far below par. Most of management in the Disney company are pikers that commit little to the company bottom line while garnering large salaries. They pocket large sums but put so little into providing value in their properties. The good news is that Feige will control more Disney properties to increase the overall wealth. Let's hope the salvage mentality crowd die off before their stupidity makes Walt Disney a bad investment.
Making a company the most money doesn't equal success. I can name more horrible things that Disney has done than great. And it's no surprise any great thing they did originated from greed and not the well being of the consumer.

Kevin Rubio Why would I need to meet her and work for her to know that her handling of Star Wars is rubbish? And how do you know I have no understanding of the film business? I do know that Solo lost a lot of money, several of the films needed very expensive reshoots (which can only be the result of incompetence), and the Last Jedi was so divisive, that interest in the Star Wars IP has never been lower. Toys and merchandise are sitting on store shelves in the clearance rack because hardly anyone likes the new characters. The Star Wars theme park at Disney Land is heavily underperforming also because hardly anyone likes the new characters or locales of the Disney-made films. If that all isn’t grounds to replace the current head of Star Wars, then what is?
@@meganick4382 Well; I'm glad you asked. Here is why she is not being fired, and why if you had an understanding of the film business you would know why Bob Iger (Disney CEO is not going to fire her. 1.) 3 out of four films that grossed over a billion dollars. 2.) A CEO that acknowledges he rushed the opening of SOLO and how that contributed to it's ow box office. 4.) 3 new streaming series (THE MANDALORIAN, CLONE WARS, and KENOBI) one of which will launch the new Disney + and is widely regarded as the sole reason most, if not all STAR WARS fans have already signed up, or will sign up on the first day. 5.) An acknowledgment by the CEO that the small crowds are a result of several factors, all contributing to low attendance - dramatic increase in ticket prices, dramatic increase in hotel prices, a philosophy that they did not need to heavily market the opening through print, broadcast and online media, locals staying away for fear of crowds. 6.) Toy sales overall on all licensed IPs (with the exception of Marvel have dropped over the past 2 years. This includes such main stays as TRANSFORMERS, PIXAR, G.I. JOE, and all Disney licenses to an average of 7.8%. In addition to all this, she's one of the most successful producers in the history of Hollywood. Not through nepotism, nor favors. She worked her way up from an assistant. She's an "on the ground in the trenches producer". Most in Hollywood would killed to have produced even 3 of her 99 films. Do you know what her first film was? E.T. THE EXTRA TERRESTRIAL. Her second? POLTERGEIST. Then there's Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, The Color Purple, Back to the Future, Gremlins, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Sixth Sense, Seabiscuit, Twister... the list goes on. George hand picked her, and probably most important she's increased the value of the company since their acquisition of LFL and Bob likes her. That's why you need to know a little about the business of film before your spout an uneducated opinion. It's okay if you don't like the films she's putting out. No one id putting a gun to your head and telling you to go see any of them. You're probably one of those people who held the opinion that George Lucas raped your childhood when he made episodes I, II, and III, and were calling for him to step down and let someone else take over - "a real fan who knows STAR WARS." And you're fine to have had that opinion too if you did, but don't expect that your uneducated opinion is gospel and should be headed as such.
Kevin Rubio Based on your fervent defense of Kennedy, I’m guessing you’re probably an employee of Lucasfilm or Disney, and you’re doing damage control. Yes, the first 2 Disney-made Star Wars films made a lot of money, doesn’t mean they’re good though. I’ve seen low budget fan films that are better. They made a lot because fans were excited about the prospect of new Star Wars films thinking there would never be any more when Lucas owned the IP. But people are realizing how creatively bankrupt and poorly written the new films are that fan interest is waning, which is probably why Disney has canceled or pushed back future films in the series. You’re also not taking into account how much Disney has spent on reshoots and marketing which heavily eats into profits. I never heard anything about Solo being rushed. In fact it was probably delayed due to all the rewrites, reshoots, and changing directors mid production. The lame excuse given for Solo’s failure was “franchise fatigue” which makes no sense considering how popular and enduring the franchise was, and considering the fact that Disney could release 2 to 4 Marvel movies a year to great success in terms of box office performance and merchandise sales. Your argument about toy sales is nonsense. Star Wars toys were always big sellers before Disney’s acquisition of the IP. Now it’s rare not to see them sitting on shelves in the clearance section. They can’t even give these toys away, much less sell them because the new characters are just not popular or likeable. The small crowds at the Star Wars theme park has nothing to do with ticket or hotel prices. That sounds like another lame excuse from Disney execs. It’s failing because there is little to no interest in visiting a Star Wars theme park that focuses almost exclusively on the new characters and locales from the Disney-made films, plain and simple. That will not change no matter what ticket prices are. I’m not sure what my opinions of the prequels has to do with anything or why you brought it up. Those films were bad too, but at least the merchandise sold. As for Kennedy’s resume, yes I’m aware she’s been a producer for a long time and has her name tied to many great films, but that doesn’t mean she had any creative input in those films. I’m willing to bet she just put up some money for productions and sat on the sidelines while other more talented and creative people crafted the films. Yes I know she was hand picked by Lucas to run the franchise for Disney, but that’s irrelevant. His handling of the franchise was incompetent since the late 90’s, so it’s no surprise he’d recommend someone else who’s incompetent to run the show after selling the IP. I’m curious, putting aside sales and box office, do you actually like the newer films and characters?
@@meganick4382 I'm a freelance writer/producer/director who is credited with starting the internet revolution known as streaming (TIME Magazine March 1999) I have worked for many companies, including ABC, NBC, MTV, WB, FOX, 20th Century Television, Paramount Pictures, Warner Music, Cartoon Network, Nick, Disney Chanel, Disney XD, Disney Feature Animation, and Lucasfilm. I am sometimes known as the "godfather of 'fan-films'" tho that title should really belong to Ernie Fosselius. I only do damage control when I'm paid to do so. My love for "the Mouse" is dependent on if the pay me in a timely manner in accordance with my contracts. So far in my on and off 20 yr association with them as a freelancer, they have never done so. I even had to hold Eisner's project hostage once until a 180 net, $350K delinquent bill was paid. That resulted in a 7 year ban and a complete restructuring of the payroll department and how freelancers were paid in that particular division. I believe some people were actually fire. And unlike you, I've worked with George and know Kathy. She has a lot of creative input. I also have friends at Hasbro (goes hand in hand when you write cartoons) and again unlike you, I actually have read the quarterly reports for toy sales. By the way, Disney had made 4 SW films. 3 grossed over a billion dollars. 1 barely broke even because, yes, they basically re-shot the whole film adding an additional $180 million to the production cost. As for all other re-shoots. Those are planned and included in the budgets, as they are with all tent-pole pictures now a days. (even the extensive re-write by Tony Gilroy for Rogue One. Obviously as a fan you feel that your passion entitles you to an opinion. And it does. But an opinion is the lowest form of human knowledge. you can form an opinion with little or no actual information, which is what you have. And then you can go around regurgitation it as if it's actual fact. (See: "fan fatigue") when you have nothing more than theory, conjecture and assumption for a business that you only experience from the sidelines. Real knowledge is not just information. It takes a combination of information and experience to spout real knowledge, but you as a fan are missing half of the equation. You have information that you've gather, that's tailored to your metrics, so you think you have the expertise. But you don't have any experience in this business so you leap to assumptions and think of them as facts because you watch pundits who spout and reinforce your ideology.
Bob Iger is a Hypocrite he fired Roseann for her comment about Valarie Jarret even after her apology. But he seems to think it is OK and acceptable for another one of his employees Jimmy Kimmel to dress in Black Face. Doing a parody of NBA great Karl Malone. Mr. Iger, I see this parody Highly offensive to Black Folks everywhere are you blind? and just as equally offensive as what Roseann said. But Jimmy Kimmel lives on your network to offend again he also should have been fired!
awesome interview! definitely going to read the book. What an amazing leader, with an understanding of how to interact with different cultures in the world. priceless! Thank you for sharing. Peace & Abundant Blessings.
Last May, Disney threatened to quit doing business in the state of Georgia after the state passed legislation that would ban abortions once a heartbeat can be detected. Walt Disney Co. Chief Executive Bob Iger said in an interview at the time that it would be “very difficult” to continue doing business in Georgia if the law was allowed to take effect. He added that he didn’t “see how it’s practical for us to continue to shoot there.”
Because he bought Lucasfilm. He finances it, he doesn’t write, produce or direct it. Creative control of the story is controlled by the Lucasfilm story group.
I will tell you what is next for Bob Iger: EARLY RETIREMENT . When Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker fails to meet expectations at the box office and the continuing failure of the Star Wars theme park, the writing is on the wall for Bob.
PR Firm made him write a book for Disney To get sympathy cause they are losing money due to poor decisions in Star Wars , losing Spiderman , some theme parks making no money at all etc ....
it looks like he speaks the truth when he talked about his fathers mood swing because i see him turning red. Very brave of him. He is a very likeable guy, the best public representative of Disney Marvel. Good publicity his appearance. I hope Disney and mainstream media could change the hightech weapon economy to in an better economy of were products are made with responsibility and (plastic waste etc) and where more people work in healthcare and farma R&D, and tech and real estate is taken away from the damn Kushners and other ritch unproductive people and the cost of living is reduced. Working and live have become so enourmous expensive becuase of the house rent costs and this is done by private group of people that do arrange money by loans or funds and so they become incredibly powerfull, they even buy years and years of R&D from other countries and then enrich themself by high prices of services and the countries dont protect themself they say we dont want a socialist system we want a kapitalistic open economy system. Trumps does say this all the time but he protects the number one Aircraft company Boeing
That doesn't mean Pixar shouldn't be at another distributor, or that Marvel had to leave Paramount. Disney is now the biggest, and there's no competing. And I hate it
Not his problem anymore and second of all those were just dumbfucks trying to get attention. If they were to then the multiverse would have a black Magneto or gay Spideman
He didn’t even want to keep spider-man in the mix this is all his fault he made that stupid deal to keep spidery out of the mcu should have made a lower deal
The deal was that Disney got the IP right from Fox, but Fox News would remain away from Disney. That being said, Fox News just got 71 BILLION dollars to power their propaganda machine. So they won't go away for a loooooong time, and it's because of Disney
