I like how they just expect you to know things. There's no exposition, because you're part of the story.

Re-listening to this is so weird because early Cecil seems so mysterious and forboding, but later Cecil is a gay Hamilton fanboy who has a tumblr in which he posts pics of wood carvings of his cat, and get's flustered around his bf.

I just finished this series up to the newest episode. With nothing else to do, I figure, why not just listen to it again, and again, and again, until the void comes down from the sky and slowly claims my body, and, eventually, my soul.

what the hell is it about this show that makes me feel so nostalgic i literally only finished it about a year ago but like?? relistening to this episode immediately transports me to my roof, looking up at the stars barefoot in the dusty summer heat, clutching my old iPod in my hand and being comfortably aware of my own breathing which wouldn't be particularly weird, save for the fact that I never did that.

Here after Cecil made it to the 2023 Tumblr sexyman finals 😂 Which might not sound like much but it shows that this fandom is still going. We remember you, Night Vale!

Hello, comment section. I am a Night Vale resident who traveled all the way back here from episode 86. If you're new here, let me just say you're in for a hell of a good time if you stick it out. There is so much that happens in later episodes that you will come to know, love, and enjoy (as well as ship). This is truly an amazing series, so I encourage you to stick with it as much as you can. Brings me back to the first time I heard night vale: I was on a walk at night with some friends - it was one of those crazy, misty-cold nights you think only exist in fantasy. My friend was trying to play it on his tinny little phone speaker, witch didn't work, so he placed it inside a conch shell, witch created a deeply weird and wonderful reverb.

I'm weeping for Carlos's perfect hair and the sheer brilliance of whatever this is.

My aunt showed me this series when she helped me house sit for my parents in 2017 or so and we laughed and laughed at all of the show's splendid wackiness. That night we listened to the first three episodes and she helped me realize I wanted to be an author. On July 4 2020 my aunt lost her battle with breast cancer. We had made a promise to each other to only listen to episodes together, so up until she died we'd only managed to listen to 10 or so given how rarely we got time to just goof off together living hours apart and her partner not really liking me for unrelated reasons that to this day are a mystery. After she died I found it really damn hard to come back to Night Vale, even for short visits. Every time I tried it felt like it was just another town where my aunt was dead and I didn't want to be there, where my aunt wasn't. It's been a few years so I've decided to give this another go from the start, and I know this one's gonna be hard like the others but if I listen closely enough I can almost hear her laughing with me. I can see her standing there by the dog park where dogs aren't allowed and she's smiling her wonderful smile and everything just might be okay if I try really hard. I'm working on my first novel now, so I know she's proud of me. Thanks, Night Vale. Thank you.

Welcome to Night Vale has been a staple of family car trips in my life for a large part of my childhood, it's fun coming back and listening to it again after all this time :) It's also kinda funny, because I get to see just how oblivious my child self was not to recognize Cecil's crush on Carlos until they literally got married. (5:53 "And I fell in love instantly")

on thanksgiving, i was driving to my aunts house with my aunt and uncle, and They played one of these broadcasts in the car while i was asleep, and all i heard when i woke up was "VILE, VILE, SCORPIO"

Ok as someone on episode 120, it’s so wholesome to look back at this comment section and see people discovering this show for the first time- completely marveling at its weirdness (favorites of mine include “wait I’m confused why did a song play after he said ‘and now, the weather”, and “um what is up with the dog park y’all”) and the longtime viewers who acknowledge that yes, this is all normal.
