Catching up on projects this weekend and we got a little creative with the methods. The same basic project but in three different methods. Which one do you like best?

Very cool and also very neat that you got your wife to appear in the video. I agree with her, all three of those look good and one could choose any of them depending on the particular style one might want to use for a given application

Like to see what projects you come up with. I have a 10w laser and recently have been doing a print and cut procedure to cut through thicker material. Set up a couple reference points just outside the project. Have the laser burn a small (.05 mm) hole at the reference point, can use a drill if hole doesn't go all the way through. Make your cuts on the top side, try to get at least half way through. Flip the workpiece and project in LB over and then use print and cut to cut from the back side. Have had pretty good success with this. Nice to see you getting some help in the shop.

Cool process, I try to avoid needing to do cut and engraves.

Without reading all the comments, on the CNC there are a couple of effective methods that I use. Mostly I sand and put a couple coats of clear on my wood before cutting. Then when I paint, if sprayingh, mask as much as I can with blue tape and lightly spreay. After it dries you can sand the paint on the surface off with your orbital sander. Basically you will sand down to the clear and all paint is gone. The other method is to use vinyl (like you cut to make signs). I use Oracal mostly, but any will work, just make sure it is exterior glue. The interior glue vinyl will pop off your wood too easily while milling. Hope this helps. Still loving your videos here in Moody, AL.

Hey, Clack! Great stuff. Quick tip for the cnc… make your carve, seal it with spray lacquer or shellac, paint the carving with acrylic paint, sand off the surface and reseal.

I like the cnc one. When you use transfer tape, do a shallow cut through the transfer tape first, to avoid tearing it up.

If I have a text that is getting thin I will convert it to a path and offset it to make it thicker. I also prefer text that is all connected so everything stays lined up.

Great episode! Can you use the laser to burn down some areas instead of CNC. Seems like I've done that by accident.

The ones that are engraved with the laser are deep burns...

Love the thin black letters on contrasting paint. Is it poisonous to cut the letters with mounting tape on the back? Also enjoying the CNC content as well. Great teamwork!
@TheClackShack
@TheClackShack 11 месяцев назад
Thanks, I cant say for sure if it is poisonous but I would be careful when cutting any kind manmade material.

Dear sir. I love watching your videos. I'm looking at buying a laser but confused at which one to buy. The main business for the laser will be engraving leather with some cutting out. Also some engraving on stainless flasks etc. Which machine would you recommend ? Thank you.
@TheClackShack
@TheClackShack Год назад
For average thickness of leather, a 20 watt will work great. If most of your work will be that and fine engraving. You will need a honeycomb and air assist for leather. Also, a good ventilation system. Burning leather is very foul smelling. Figure out what your budget is and go from there. There are lots of good machines out there that are more than capable of decent production for hobby or small business production. Multiple machines make it even faster. It all comes down to your budget. Be sure to account for the needed extras. On the low end of the budget would be the two trees TTS20 that I recently r43eviewd. It comes with a decent air assist setup and honeycomb. An Atomstack A20 would also be an affordable option. For leather, I recommend that material clearance be something to consider. Stay away from the auto Z axis because they have low clearance. You can also get into the XTool D1 pro or my favorite the Atezr P20 but the budget goes up. The new longer B1 is a good machine but requires a few tweaks. If you wanna fix a couple issues, it might be a good choice. I like my Longer B1 30
@blow_u_away
@blow_u_away Год назад
@TheClackShack Thank you for the great answer. I have been looking at the xtool D1 pro 20 watt. It comes with , Air assist , 8 risers , RA2 Pro, honeycomb panel . Total price £1258. The atezr p20 plus 20 watt isn't letting me ship the honey comb or rotary roller to the uk for some strange reason. But if I could the price for that machine including the 2 extras would be £900. So quite abit cheaper.

Grammar is wrong. Sign should read 'The Jacksons' unless you mean it to be possessive as in 'The Jackson's Place' but as it stands.... yeah not correct. However, KK's cabin is correct :)

I do not corrrect the grammmar of my customers, I engrave it the way they send it. I have email or text for work orders. I find that my customers prefer things their way. Thanks though
