Following and hearing the word from San Antonio, TX. Feel blessed to have discovered Calvary and Pastor Skip. Pastor Skip, can you recommend a church in San Antonio that has the same desire to teach / feed their congregation the Word of God the way you guys do at Calvary? Thanks! May God continue to bless you!

This always struck me odd. Why was it ok for David to make a burnt offering but not for Saul to do it?

Because God ordered David to build an altar on the threshing floor - and apparently the sacrifices were implied. There were times when prophets and kings made sacrifices when God ordered them to do so. Guess the idea is the lawgiver can grant exceptions to the law

I've always had a trouble with this passage. I read The Bible as real world. I actually know adults who read it like a fairy tale. Some people believe Jesus probably never hit his thumb with a hammer or became constipated because he was perfect. I completely get Saul's misgivings. My question about this God inspired plan is simple. Where was Samuel? Why was he late? He may never have showed up? What if he was dead on the side of the road? He could have been laid up somewhere with a hangover after too much wine. So we have a military leader who has briefed his field commanders based on the plan. Strategies and tactics are set. Everybody's is set to go...but Samuel. Who's the bad guy here? Oh, Saul of course. Now I know all of this had to happen to pave the way for another king ultimately but the story is weak. I believe the story. It's simply not the best example. Samuel shares no fault in this incident. Oh, it's just a big test. I gotta tell ya, plenty of military people would flunky this test.

I enjoy his teachings and am going through this series but the last 2 sermons have been politically biased. Pro guns, anti defund the police. I'm not from the US but these parts sound very American!

Say WHAT? Politically biased…PRO GUNS….IN THE OLD TESTAMENT? WHAT GUNS? He’s making a comparison of taking away the ability to protect yourself from REAL CRIMINALS. JUST using an up to date analogy.

Enjoy your teaching and ministry so much. I pray, however, that you'll dispense with airing your political views during your teaching. Not helpful or necessary in my opinion.

It certainly was necessary for the example he used. Since when is protecting yourself politics? Smh
