Is there a more ridiculous maneuver in The Long Dark than the Raven Falls Trestle autowalk?We did this on day 700-something, before we knew that old saves wouldn't be compatible with the upcoming game updates.
Later, after 1000 days of Interloper, we attempted to run this both ways after using an emergency stim.

I'm confused why would people lose there runs more without autowalk. Seems like auto walk would make this harder

Yep. I did it the silly way on purpose. Later, I did it stimmed, with no clothes, while sprinting.

I never understood the fear around this area People actually lose runs on this? This is my most welcomed area, literally nothing to fear but the cold. No wolves bears etc

@@UncleGordo88 For sure, the streamer Wonzandonly calls it "the hospital" safe, tons of birch bark. The trestle is the scary part. People do fall, hundreds of days in.

oof, I'm sorry to hear that. As much as I'm pretty cavalier here, autowalking this was the "one thing I would never do." (now that thing has become rope jumping)

That's how people die in all sorts of situations in real life as well! Knowing a route/area/whatever so well that it becomes routine. Then you think you are doing it right, just like the other 10 or 20 or 2000 times! Boom. Small mistake, big consequences! How did you last 700 days? Any tips? I'm on the third hardest setting for my run. Somewhere around 50-60 days!

Stacyplays actually was the first RU-vidr I seen get this death. She covered TLD back in 2014. She randomly discovered the ravine region and died on that part of the bridge because there used to be a big where when you would check stats in ur inventory and it would jar your vision to the sky. When she tried to fix just her vision she ended up moving her actual character and died.

This gave me so much anxiety. On all my long runs I just avoid right there. I’ll even loop around through pleasant valley when going to coastal Highway just to avoid it xD

I remember when Party Will did this on Carter Hydro Dam and didn't remember the next day. He may have also misplaced his crampons in Grey Mother's cupboards that night 😂

That was a gooooooood tiiimmmeeee. Yeah I logged in the next morning and 1) realized I was in HRV, 2) didn't have my crampons. The ultimate, "dude, where's my crampons" moment. If there's one stream VOD I should just edit in its entirety, it's that one.

You have to enable it in accessibility settings, but yeah! Thereafter you can hit one key, and you'll walk forward without having to hold down the forward key. I love it, but it can get you in trouble on sheer mountaineering :P

I would screw this up from fear or losing so much work. I am great at platformer games and games that require mouse movement to navigate stuff but I would find away to mess up. Also auto-walk is such a useful feature. I also use the click to open rather than hold to open.

All saves immediately disappear in survival mode, yep.

lol I've died on thus thing a few times auto walking, when your carrying 200 pounds of gear you overestimate how slow you are, figured at the speed I was going I would be fine to to bake some cookies thar was a mistake Lost my 200 day stalker run

He never died, and lived over 1000 days. But the DLC patch made him only playable via the time machine mechanic, so now we have Party Astrid at about 450 days.
