Literally my favorite series of all time as an MVP lover and a Washington resident. Doesn't get better than this for me. Love seeing you tear up my local courses that I struggle at (started playing seriously 2 years ago)
Glad you’re enjoying the series! Tip for tall firs. Break all the par 4’s down into 2 of your most consistent shots and don’t worry about distance off the tee🤝
ive said it before and ill say it again, you are my favorite frolf tuber. just genuine homie vibes from ya. loving this series as im kinda starting to build an mvp bag. im from michigan so i love to support local.
You and Bodanza are the 2 disc golf youtubers that always bring such a more chill vibe to disc golf content. I always have this urge to go throw a few discs after watching you vids. Too bad you post so late that it’s almost dark out and I have to wait for the next day to go do it lol. Love the content and keep up the excellent work, might have to look into this patreon deal👀
After the month you should do a bag vs bag tournament so to speak like 3 courses all different so you can give it a thorough test, also waves bomb fairly easily IMO. Great content as always man 🤝 keep it rockin man!
I know that you grind to bring quality and necessary content. It's clear that you love what you're doing. Gratitude is infectious, and one can not help but go out and throw after viewing. That's why I watch. You inspire me to throw, and you know what you're talking about... Period. I like hearing the SNAP, which you bring. Ps. Get your putting together sheesh 😆
such a great course. making me feel real bad about my last round there, but love watching your lines and disc selection. gives me some good ideas for next time.
Quick tip for out here. Don’t try to throw far. Each par 4 is a very easy 2 shot hole. Just throw two of your most consistent shots and try to make the putt. Also simply realizing that none of the holes out there are overly complicated makes you realize how simple it is to pick apart that course with smart shot selection 🤝
Try the Panic or Nitro if you want a 13 speed that's more stable than the Octane. Photons for 11 speed are great (Fission for straighter, Proton and Neutron for more overstable).
Man, it's tough to have a great day driving and putting, always seems to be one or the other. A few times a year you get the overlap and feel like a pro, keeps you coming back
Brod hear me out bro “Battle of the Brands” 5 disc best lineup tournament! All top DG manufacturers 1 Distance drive 1 Fairway driver 1 Midrange 1 Throwing putter 1 Putting putters
For a solo disc attempt I have fallen in love with the Detour, floats well and does pretty much what you want it to do. When I just wanna take on a shorter course and practice I sometimes will just toss that bad boy around instead of bringing the whole bag.
I feel like the mid you're missing is a glow reactor Brod. Fits right between the hex and pyro. Also, a proton volt is that thunderbird-esque fairway you're looking for in my opinion. Photons are great for that 11 speed slot, and with the different plastics you can get every shot. Fission photons are great at just about every weight with the super light 155ish gram ones being super straight with some turn, and the max weights being very much a reliably stable driver. The rest you seem to have a handle on for now. For me, 2 fission photons, a fission wave, a proton Tesla and proton volt, 2 fission craves, pyro, glow reactor, hex, tempo, and envy/proxy are essential gyro bag. 12 discs and you can do everything out there, though a fireball/resistor for those super windy days can be helpful instead of the second photon or crave.
I've seen just about every driver featured on RU-vid, but not nearly as many mid-range videos. The Detour has become my favorite, straight mid-range disc. But I'd LOVE to see a video about MVP'S mid-range discs! I'm not really familiar with their overstable and understable mids.
TEMPO vs ENTROPY would be a great video, as we can tell there's something to be desired for you in the approach department. Also maybe a Streamline Runway, very over stable 5 speed but many use it for approaches. Or MVP Deflector, but that thing is basically a slow tilt.
For the matrix, proton is great and reliably overstable. But the cosmic neutron is special. It has just a touch more overstability that bridges the gap between a matrix and pyro. You should also try the Simon line proton tesla and a cosmic neutron tesla (cosmic flies like a firebird).
Fission Wave (153g) helped me reach 300', 350', and then 375' before turning into my turnover disc. I bag that, a Nuetron, and Proton Waves. Nuetron replaced the Fission for my flip-up to turn, and then fade forward bomber and the Proton is my headwind disc.
Love you're putting with Envys! I been putting with them for 7 years and never see anyone putting with them just throwing. Out of curiosity, why do you putt left handed and throw right handed? Never seen that before! Also, start beating a glow reactor in. It can cover a whole range of slots that your matrix, hex, etc are filling currently! They fly exactly like a further flying glow envy. Happy huckin!
I wanted to write that after hole 2 or 3, and you confirmed it on hole 16: 11 speed is the answer. I don't throw as far as you (330-350max) and my "mini bomber" is my 145g Fission Photon. I also have a 166g Fission Photon that I use for headwind / more reliable flight. I think a max weight Fission Photon (Elaine King's) would be a good fit for you, without having to crank it like the 14 speeds, but still being able to trust it. If you like that Inertia, would like a bit more distance but don't trust your Wave, get a max weight Trail. It's not just the hype, JC's line is probably one of the best player lineups after PMB.
You need to try another resistor, a wrath, and a fireball for the overstable fairway slots. Maybe a phase for a beefy 11 speed, definitely a photon for a reliable bomber 11 speed. Max weight fission photon, ideally.
Nah pyro is much more OS than matrix. Also I throw almost everything on hyzer so there’s almost zero chance I’d ever need a deflector other than crazy windy days🤝
@@brodericyeah, i remember liking a Matrix a few years back. After it beat in, felt to similar to my Eclipse Hex so I got away from it. Enjoying this series 🤘🏻
Your bag is pretty similar to mine, and if I'm not feeling confident with the Plasma Octane because of a headwind or downhill I'll switch it out for a 170ish gram fission Photon. I don't throw as far as you, so it might still be too straight or flippy for you, but the ones I've thrown, even lightweight, have had noticeably more stability but still get a good push on them.
Love the series man, keep it up. I hear your dilemma with the 11 speed category. I don’t really have the distance you have but the 9-11 speed discs feel so good in the hand and MVP is lacking for the 11’s with some finish
The MVP premium plastic Wizard for me is a Proton Pilot. I keep taking it out of my bag because it's in between my Proxy and ultra beef Envy but I always put it back in 😅
Rodrick: you asked for some thoughts on upcoming content and one thing I've always wanted to see is a comparison of the same molds across the three brands, MVP, axiom, and streamline, IF they're similar. Do you have enough of the same mold across the three lineups where they do overlap to compare some?
Love the content and that you’re in my neck of the woods for content. I regular tall firs because it’s a good place to dial things in and work on some stuff. Have you tried Kayak point yet? Also, hate to be the bearer of bad news but… you missed the mando on hole 18.. 😂
@@broderic looking forward to a kayak golds/blues video man. I think you get the same outcome throwing the backhand around the right side of the mando TBH. It’s the white pole inside the last dead tree late into the left fairway of 18 and you gotta be right of it.
The Ohm is MVP's most underrated putter. If you see one snag it. You'll take the nomad out for a driver putter. Also, some runs of the Mayhem, like the plasma are more stable than the Octane. The first run stuff was all board flat. You can probably find an OS driver somewhere in there.
No disrespect with the comment about getting contacts. I need a new prescription for my glasses, I’ve been leaving my upshot’s short… it’s crucial to have the best vision possible while huckin frisbees
Play a Space race tournament for a video? Might be a good time. For the overstable Mid Pyro is the way. For an overstable approach disc you could try the Entropy, its more OS than the Tempo
If you get a chance please get a Nitro. 13 speed .5 turn and 3 fade. Its a great distance driver. The Zenith is amazing at an 11 speed -1, 1 stability. I bag all MVP and have these in Neutron.
@@broderic that .5 actually flips it up a tad but it will be over stable and super consistent. My Zenith I get 450 with a nice consistent fade. Can't wait to see you try them out. GL
Go to Mando's Disc Golf Pro shop in Auburn while you are in WA. One of the owners (Trevor) is the coolest dude and partially responsible for introducing me to the game. Then go to White River Disc Golf Course nearby and play with Trevor and your new MVP discs.
My mid lineup is Detour (US) Hex (straight) Reactor (OS) and Pyro (OS/forehand) Hex and Echo are nearly the same disc, echo being ever so slightly more US.
Would like to see you try the Streamline Trace and get your thoughts compared to a Grace and Wraith. Glow Reactor ftw if you want an option over the matrix. FWIW I found the OTB proton soft echo's to fly like a detour, with a nice -2 hyzer flip.
Gotta get a fresh Trail homie. More reliable inertia I think. A true bomber disc that is not one you have to worry about losing I believe will be a new Plasma Mayhem. The new runs are domey and absolutely bomb. And easier to find than Patent Pending octanes :)
the thing ive not seen any videos on is the "everyman's driver" from MVP (trail, wave, photon, ect..) too many of the original drivers are all too overstable for most players to make it a workhorse driver
Grab a vanish and compare it to that wave for a flippy driver? Could be fun. Feel like you could control the crave really well too and it's got a different feel and flight depending on which plastic. Cosmic neutron the most os
I have a pretty mixed bag but I lean so heavy on mvp every disc I pick up just makes me wonder what other brands are thinking 😂 but if you haven’t got your hand on a mid weight trail you’re missing a key component to your journey man that disc is unbelievably bomb hzyer flip up to straight and ride or straight to a slight turn over and a graceful finish it’s an effortless throw to 500 also as you are a buzz ss lover you would fall in love with the reactor that disk is a mvp copy flip up ride to reliable finish
