In this video, I will attempt to provide a thorough explanation as to what is Permanent Jewelry (first popularized by the permanent bracelet or forever bracelet) and what is behind this phenomenal craze!
Permanent jewelry is jewelry that has no clasp; it is welded closed right on the body. Think extreme fashion show - they need an exact fit, so the garments are stitched right onto the body. The only way for it to come off is if you cut it off!
Why?
It is an artistic form of self expression, with a bit more commitment, which in itself is a personal statement - it adds a higher level of meaning. Think of it as a tattoo, but a lot less painful and certainly less expensive. It is also something to bond over, a reminder of friendship, love and relationship.
That is why it has been so popular for groups (clubs, sorority, wedding parties, groups of friends commemorating a special event/time, mother/daughter and sisters bracelets...). It isn't just for women; it has become highly popular with men as well.
It is not hard to add a clasp when the customer is ready to cut the bracelet off. It can be a fun event, like when the goal has been reached (the fiances are married, the student has graduated or finished a gruelling course, when the baby is born and the mother can then cut the bracelet and turn it into a baby bracelet for child as a keepsake). There are so many fascinating and endearing ways for permanent jewelry to add to our lives.
How?This was never before possible because you cannot solder close to the body; a flame strong enough to melt metal will only turn skin crispy. A current of electricity is run from the needle thin electrode to the grounding clip, enabling it to fuse two pieces of touching metal, or a jump ring whose ends are touching.
