VictoryGasworks you've already touched a new generation. I'm a young man watching 4 years after your upload. Thank you for spreading your knowledge and 'keeping the fire alive'
My dad came from a town in Mexico called San Luis Potosí and he was planning on fixing this huge water pump that could draw water from the river to a more central source for everyone to get their water since everyone has to walk to the river and we could probably use a wood gasifier to power the water pump
Hi Ben, so good to see you back on the web doing the wonderful things you do. You are an inspiration toward American innovation. The gasifier is hot man, but your shop, mechanical skills, knowledge, and passion about science and all things related is what shines through. Please, keep on, learning and showing us your ideas and perspectives. I learn as much from watching how you do things as I do with what you do. Thanks for working hard to combine your years of work and study into a guide book for us all.
@@KodakYarr They were videos of ben diy building all these gasifiers and testing different designs before he "sold out"effectively. Thing is, the video views would have earned him more than the book. Easier and better for the environment to just buy some solar panels and batteries now adays though.
Hi. Id like to ask a question. Me and a friend are finishing High school next year. I am finishing industrial mechanics school, and he is finishing economy school. We are trying to find a small source of money, before we go to college. And thought that a wood gasifier, would be a great beginning. The gas that comes out of the wood gasifier, will power a gas motor, that power a generator... and the generator puts the inducted electricity in the web... and by doing so, you start producing your own electricity and sell it. Well since wood is not that expensive , we thought it would be a great idea. But my questions are... how much will it cost to make a wood gasifier, and how efficient would that wood gasifier be ? And is it possible to make a wood gasifier that produces 50kwh and not spend more than 5.000 euros ? Is it even possible to make such a project alone? And how much wood do you need to produce 1kwh ?
4:30 "phase-shifts the wood", "singularity", "changing molecular chemistry", "clean distilled gas" - Wow, that is some colossal first-class bullshit bingo lingo right there …
This is great info! I'm so glad someone is taking woodgas seriously! I am an arborist and I have seen so much wood go to waste. I have a backyard forest full of medium sized trees that would make great fuel. I am currently building an outdoor rocket mass heater for my garden and I want to use the top of the oil drum to heat wood to make syngas. I want to use that syngas to run a generator to charge a battery and/or run lights/fan/heat/accessories This info is absolutely stellar! I'm definitely gonna buy this book
Ben knows his stuff! If you don't believe it, check out my youtube video where I hooked up a 45KW generator run by a 6 cylinder 300 cubic inch Ford straight six engine to a Victory Gasifier and it runs flawlessly. You want the hardcopy book because it's readable even if the grid goes down. If that happens, your DVD will make a great coaster for your drink.
Thanks for the rockin testimonial and to everyone commenting. I have some streaming video in the works, but it's not ready just yet and it doesn't have part sketches and schematics like the book, but it is in color and it's a nice compliment. Cheers!
I don't know why its so popular to wear thick gloves while operating a table saw. If it gets snagged your whole hand can get pulled into the blade. My great grandpa lost his arm that way.
Could you use a stirling cycle engine to produce ultra low temperatures to turn that gas to liquid and fill insulated bottles with frequency emitters in the bottom to cause the liquid to vaporize that can then be feed into the combustion engine?
Phil Zolth Methanol its illegal in manny countryes and its verry dangerous plus the ,,clean,, exhaust gasses might look clean but they are verry toxic( formaldehide).
you are the King of Gassifiers. everyone else are just amatuers. I first heard of wood gassifiers 30 years ago on the Paul Harvey radio show. He spoke about the gas rationing in England during WW2.,and folks adapted their cars. The Germans had their own fuel crisis and adapted the tiger tanks that were used in training to run on wood gas. . I was thrilled by your excellent presentation because in comparison all other videos are a waste of my time And you literally wrote the book on it. anyone serious about it is going to need a technical manual to refer as they go through the build process.. As soon as i can get my water turned back on and pay for my meds Im buying your book. I cant wait to get it in my hands.
he is quit right today it used by a lot of people the pint is it must be . sead it a Gide it enable's you to build a gas genarater with out a the hit a miss of the past. we now have the tool to add Benefit to the build it is now on paper. in the book something we did not have when i was a lad. there is other ways to Mack gas often not covered in this books The gun barrel system of making gas. & the charcoal colom method that uses water to Mack gas as the the wood gasifier Uses the Water in wood fibbers to convert to gas by the charcoal that is made in the wood gas genarater . Water & Charcoal in a Colom , makes dioxide gas & hydrogen gas.
THIS NEEDS TO BE TAUGHT IN SCHOOLS .IMAGINE A REALITY WHERE EACH KID IF NEED IT , HAD THE KNOLEDGE AND SKILLS TO BUILD A LITTLE STEAM MACHINE , PUT SOME WHEELS ON IT WATCHING THEM PROUD HOW THEYBRAKE THE WIND OR WAVES ON THEYR OWN LITTLE MACHINES . IN THAT WORLD THE DUTY OF EVERY FATHER OR THE COMMUNITY OR (HOPE NOT) THE STATE , GIVE TO EACH OF THOSE KIDS A LITTLE WORKSHOP AND A SET OF TOOLS SAME ZISE , SAME TOOLS SAME EVERYTHING .. DEAM , I DONT KNOW HOW MY MIND CAN COME UP WHIT THIS KIND OF IDEAS AND,,,,,, LIKE FOOTAGE ON MY MIND :S WTF
I wish I could buy that book for $50. Can't just buy the book on your webite. Amazon wants $75 but out of stock. Barnes & Noble doesn't carry the book even on line. Maybe there will be on at the Mother Earth News Fair next month.
I'm curious to know just how often you have to refill the wood hopper for continuous use? How scalable is it? I would be looking to run a 5hp generator with it.
0:25 Protip: Recording a mono signal on a stereo track without fixing to put the signal on both tracks in post is bad. Some of us still have functional ears AND aren't mobile monkeys with their mono speakers.
I read through the FEMA documentation on wood gasification, seems easy to follow the data tables for sizing the generator to match needs, i like the downdraft flat plate system they described. I will build a unit soon. Your book looks well done and a good resource.
Don’t forget Y2K!!!! I was assigned software compliance for a year. Easiest software money ever. FEMA was freaking out! So they wrote up a booklet on how to build a wood gasifier to run old tractors. I have two copies in my tech library. It looked like a 55 gal drum on the front of an 8N tractor!
I have a problem. Activated carbon has energy in it. Call me greedy, but I want that damn energy in the form of hydrogen gas. Can you give me insight as to how they produce syngas from coal. Is h20 needed?
Maybe you have but could you make a downloadable link for purchase on your how to make. Go through make some different models and adapter for house heating, car, water, etc.
***** what ever dude!! don't buy his bullshit this has been around for ever! I built my gasifier for around $400 bucks without his book! you don't need him for this!
If that 50 USD book helps to save 50 USD on that, it's worth it. Looks like the plans are for a 1000+ USD device, though. I think some manual maintenance on a simpler model will be cheaper for years.
Right-On, Thanks, You've done a fantastic job building the gasifier and working the kinks out of the system for guys like myself who are interested in this alternative. I've dabbled in all the alternate energy sources and always regardless what I've build or working on have come back to this for numerous reasons. HH0 generators: are good but, inconsistent, which can play havoc running a generator. Wind doesn't make a usable gas and same goes with solar. It boils down to whats the best boom for the buck and I believe a gasifier serves all those needs, from running a vehicle to a generator, Those two things alone that covers a huge area. Thanks again. I appreciate it.
I just got the book in the mail today. Worth every penny. There's a section that tells you exactly what you need, where to buy it, and also says if you could get it through scrap. I'm very cheap. I'll be digging through the scrap yard alot. But I do have a question, after building one....could I sell them on the side to make money? Kinda like a small business? Or are there laws against it?
Just do it “under the table”, make them the best each time, and provide customer service so you can charge just enough to get you by for repairing them. Also go to landfills like NO TOMORROW so you can dumpster dive for usable metal.
Correct me if im wrong, In a typical gasifier it's the "smoke" that is used. It's actual gas, not liquid. However there's ways to get liquids as a byproduct, like Ethanol, which can be stored and used later. Right? 🤔
I've always been fascinated with the process of gasification. Done researching it in the past and started to accumulate things to build a FEMA gasifier. The plans were on the internet. Obviously you have taken us way further than the FEMA gasifier which is plagued with problems. I'm sure I will be purchasing your book very shortly in converting my accumulated Parts into your design. Thank you for being such a true patriot to this country. That's very few people realize how vulnerable the whole system is. 1 EMP or coronal mass ejection and we're right back to the 1800s if we're lucky. Keep up the good work
Now if you can make a system to cool, filter and compress that wood gas into a storage container ,now that wood be a best saler .. you should give a royalty lmao lol just saying good luck great video and love the gasification system you put together.. it's a shame it has to burn trees though.. Question why cant you break down petroleum based fuel the same way ?
Oh, BTW, I do have 2 gasoline powered cars and would get a big generator for the mountain house, so I imagine there would still be a need to make the connections. Thanks for your time and courtesy. Kind regards, Art
Very nice, Ben. Glad to see you've come so far. I remember having to check for new posts on the forum when I got home, before I would do anything else. You've helped me with everything I know of gasifiers and I feel this will be a must have book for all D.I.Y.ers. I will own one, that's for sure.
Looks good. There aren't many of us with the skillset or equipment required to make them though. Ask around and you'll get a lot of blank looks if the words kaowool, mig and tig welding or plasma cutter are used. Then there are even some electricians who have issues with wrapping their heads around a DC current system. I hope you do well with it and I can see anyone that gets the manual will most likely be building at least a few complete units for others.
Not only didatic but what a great production vídeo man. thanks a lot. The world need a Thousands of men like you. Buying the Bible ... Thanks Luiz Sanvitto
Can you design a wood gasifier that also produces Biochar?? My only hope for a sustainable future is that while fuel is made, the carbon can be sequestered - Biochar is a brilliant way to sequester carbon whilst breathing life into exhausted soils, replacing the need for fossil fuel intensive artificial fertilizers...
Okay, I see you have had your ego inflated way past the recommended daily allowances. After dissecting, literally retyping the entire FEMA file just to make it digitally reference-able...I know the Imbert design is lacking safety features. But hey, it has been time tested so naturally the next step is addressing the issues correctly and it appears, that is what you have done. So, Thanks man! $50...$70...$9? +...It is said that time is money. Eh-eh...wrong...Time is life ticking away. You can replace $$$. Can't get back those limited amount of heart beats we all use up eventually. So, ca-ching. Another deposit for your families future. Oh, I like that Arduino idea...nice...
I haven't posted any new videos on my woodgas project in a good while. Videos like this get me thinking about finishing my gasifier though. Fuel prices have gone way down but I still like the idea of having my own fuel supply. Hoping my unit will be portable enough to move from truck to other equipment. I really should get busy on that thing, can't afford to buy one.
smoke is not unburnt fuel. Smoke is just inert Co2. That green gas that comes off of wood sometimes when you get your fire really hot but there isn't a huge flame? THAT is wood gas, which in this case is the "unburnt fuel".
HI There! Very nice video and machine by the way. I am writing you from overseas (Argentina). Do you know someone or a company that can sell us the final gasifier? I just don't have the skills to go for to build one. Thanks a lot!
Two questions. 1). The gasifier rate of production is independent of the motor. So what happens when your producing more gas than the engine is burning? Flare it off? I first got into gasification thru wood boilers. Totally different animal. I now find myself in need of a maple syrup evaporator. Not the most efficient way of burning wood.
Why are you wearing a welding hood and welding gloves to review your book....Edit; also does your book provide options to avoid reliance on electricity to run the gasifier? If I were to make one of these I would want manual air/gas adjustment and a shaker that didn't need electricity. I would think you could figure out a way to transfer the vibration from the generator or whatever you are running to the shaker Grate. I appreciate all the time and energy that you have put into your system but as a Machinist and Fabricator can't help but think of these things.
That was a lot of marketing BS. Also clearly a modified hot water heater. The fact we didn't talk about actual performance numbers is mind boggling. What is the burn rate, average exhaust temp, emissions, material cost, etc. Based on how long those marshmallows took to toast that "flame" does not have a lot or hydrogen burning that you claim.
Please answer my question I'm a mechanic my question is,is that possible if I use the gas in any gasoline engine or maybe it will cause overheating the engine ,...coz I just want a personal generator...
~ good to see you progressing bro + I see you went all the way on trying to regulate RPM / load in an attempt to make clean 110 vac 60 hz rather than go inefficiently with strait DC for battery charging, heat scavenging & inverted that to clean 117 AC as needed ? = shared your work, butt don't you have a cheaper & more convenient downloadable DvD for those on a budget that can not afford a hard copy for their grandcavechildren in the survived hear after :)
Ben Did you Ever see the Video of a old man I believe is in France, He went to war came back, He has a old truck, I think a ford, Truck looks Brand new and is Powered off a Gasifier, and Runs great
I wanted to build this but what I am not sure is how much gas it will take to power my diesel generator. Not know what it is too much and what its not. Or would it be regulated via the wood gas calibrator?
your check out system didnt work. The check out didnt ask for any credit card or paypal info. i want the book but i cant give you digital currency! if can email me back and let me know how to get this book that would great.
NightHawkInLight (RU-vid channel) has a couple of videos on how to make that: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aqR4_UoBIzY.htmlsi=rpi5XmFJwGt-qvIo
Notice how convincing this sounds but no one is selling one that was made. Ford made the car. And you saw it you bought it. Puttin is good but not when you know when something is in it.
@@LiberatedMind1 compressing it won't go very far. Propane liquifies, allowing a high energy density. No one buys tanks of natural gas, though, because a tank won't hold all that much energy in the gas state. Woodgas won't liquify, either. So it can be compressed, but tank uses are limited. All useful applications of woodgas I've seen consume the gas as it is generated.
Good question to ask! Technically toy might, depending on what you gasify, hard wood, soft wood and such will leave you some char, but you’re better off putting it into the ground and using a charcoals retort to make dedicated fuel charcoal.
6K for ready made? You can get Soviet made Nuclear power plant for same price that will give you all the power you need for next 40 years.. Even with 1.5K i would expect there being collection system to pump that gas into tank for later use.
Terra Preta soil by use charcoal + nutrians = biocharSeem to gain up to a hype now and futher. The use of charcoal in soil seem to solve serveral major issues. Negative carbon emmision, enrich soil, hold nutrians from fluch away, increase Agriculture yeald and so on.
The one thing that I don’t seem to find any answers too. Is how many hours of running will these do before they need a good clean out ? I see ppl running for 5 or six hours. But will it run for say a week ? With just topping up the wood hopper befor it needs cleaning ?
