This is awesome!! I started trying switch pushing a few weeks ago. It’s slow going and I’m only pushing mongo at this stage with my non-dominant leg. I’m looking forward to some more progress.
In the beginning, you have to practice patiently and keep evaluating. Just copy every movement from the dominant side. Time is needed for building up muscle strength and memory. You will suddenly find breakthroughs in your progress which are very satisfying.
How awkward did you feel pushing on your non dominant side initially and how natural does it feel now? How long did it take you to adapt..? I'm getting achiles tendinitis from pushing one sided so I'll have to dedicate myself to learning switching as well. Thanks for the inspirational video.
Thank you! Initially, I found it hard to get balanced solely using the non-dominant leg, but single leg balance is the most critical skill. It was also difficult to change the non-dominant front foot from "horizontal" to "vertical" quickly and precisely. It took me a month to be able to push on smooth roads. However, pushing is just one of the skills. The non-dominant side should copy everything the dominant side does. I experienced plantar fasciitis. Try not to train too frequently. After few months, you will feel the progression. Finally you will get what you wanna learn.
@@HarryLamHK This is very helpful and gives med the confidence that I can master it with time! Thanks for allt the great tips. I'll be practicing this the coming months. Pushing switch is what's needed to make LDP truly useful to cover distances and discover new places with a longboard.
After your time on the Prana. Next time would you stick with prana or do you miss Ember at all. I have a chance to buy a used mint hardwood Ember(w/85mmSV) or just grab a new Prana. Just curious for your thoughts in all its nuance&experience.
I have get used to the geometry of Pranayama. It is more stable and shorter. It just a little bit heavier than Ember. Therefore I will recommend Pranayama. Though, Ember is still a good choice for city LDP.

thanks to you! I'm doing LDP, actually my score is 7 km with a Vanguard with paris 180mm but in my city are not a safe way or exclusive path for no cars so is hard do more distance. What distance are between the floor and the board with Pranayama? With vanguard with 85mm Orangutang are 13.8cm of distance
The distance was measured at 7cm. photos.app.goo.gl/C8nkPtqeM7Fa4pqx5 Vanguard brings excellent carving experience during city cruising, but it is exhausting (or challenging) for LDP😆
Hi Harry, I have just bought a drop cat 38 and my question is that can you push switch on that too? Does the rocker not prevent you from doing that by putting your feet in an angled position? Thanks
I have a Drop Cat 33. In the beginning, I could push-switch by standing front foot in the middle flat part of the deck. After practicing, I can now stand on the top-angled part of the deck. As long as your dominant leg can do it, theoretically, your non-dominant leg can also do it👍🏻
@@HarryLamHK I haven’t tried it yet but thinking about it I am more worried about the back foot angled before it comes forward as you do it in this video.
Sorry, I have not tried them yet. I think they are less compact than Pranayama, but they should be more stable and faster (larger wheels can be installed). AB Maze 2.0 and Trip seem so simular.
@@HarryLamHK thanks. and that she is the most agile to weave between pedestrians in town, make tight turns, and have fun? trip/ab maze or pranayama? (Or other)
@@clivegeorge9740 Pranayama is compact. (less 2" deck length) Trip/Maze 2.0 are stable. (RKP truck) Both of them are very suitable for commuting in the city. Recently, I found the bottom of my deck scratched the ground easily. I measured my wheels and found that my 85mm was worn out to 80mm... I believe that Ember will not have such problem because it has less drop.
@@HarryLamHK How long did it take for your wheels to wear out? what wheels are these? so there is no problem with 85mm wheels? and the Zenith maze is sold with 90 wheels. RKPs are more stable but do they run better? for cruising The pleasure of feeling and turns between people
Strange question: What size shoes do you wear? Asking to see if my size 12us are too big for this board. or you are just making it look too easy. apologies if i asked before..
I think the pranyama is 9", which is plenty wide enough for your shoes, provided it fits your personal preference. Deck width varies widely throughout disciplines, there are some DH riders with bigger feet than you on 8.3" decks. The board will be perfect unless you specifically prefer wide boards, or prefer a very wide stance. Keep in mind I don't have the pranyama, but I have gone through many decks and this is my personal opinion
I am 11.5US. I find the standing area is quite enough for my feets. I think your 12US can still skate it. Indeed, I think the thinner Ember was already wide enough for me.
Do you mean commuting using a cruiser longboard with the push switch skill? The only thing to be reminded is to be aware of the surrounding environment, e.g. rocks, curbs, pedestrians, and shop entrances. Respect everything. Today, I am still using a cruiser longboard as a commuting assistant.
I think soft shoes are preferable. Pushing is just similar to running. I find many LDP skaters wearing running shoes. I think the FiveFingers is the best choice. I want one!
