Thank you Alex. It is a nice tree. But.. Sometimes I do consider it more topiary than bonsai. And then I see things pop by that make me put this in bonsai corner again!
First - beautiful tree. You covered a lot about tending, shaping, wiring, and especially when each should be done. Plan to incorporate one aspect you covered…now to convince the wife (who loves flowering plants/trees), that eventually removing the flowers is healthy and wise in our few bonsai. Keep them coming my friend. You are doing great.
I will never tire of seeing how pads are formed. Great video. I look forward to the deadwood all carved. That will be very cool. The red pot is awesome, I have been very focused on those sorts of pots as of late.
I love this video! Actually recently picked up an Azalea of some sort. In a big box store... "Oh look! PLANTS!" It was a valentine thing. The only one in the whole pile that wasn't solid dark pink flowers. "OOooOOoo Azalea! I've heard that word in Bonsai videos before!" Was my excuse to buy it...
Thank you for a wonderful and insightful video. What a beautiful tree. Well timed video as well as Azaleas grow very well where I live and I want to get some miniature azaleas, and also plan to take parts of the bushes in my yard to play around with as bonsai. They grow so well I have unlimited material to experiment with.
Go for it! Just be carefull and first figure out how brittle the branches are. This is a bit weather and season dependent. Go slow untill you have a feel for it.
Very well produced and utilising the entire year works perfectly. I have followed the same pattern myself. My local dwarf azalea are in full 'purple' bloom right now. It is always nice knowing that both the Fuji cherry and the Azalea give such pleasure at this time of year :)
@@GrowingBonsai thank you, bought my first azalea and it needs pruning so wondering if cuttings taken now would take, be a waste to throw them out. I will deffo take some in spring and have a go
Hi Jelle I’m just about to start wiring my azalea. It’s the one in my boat pot. Could you tell me if they ground root from the branches. Ie if I stick the live branch in the soil will it root out so I can creat a carpet ? Thanks mate
