I love your ownership over laziness. I'm the same gal! You're still way more organized than I am, ha.

I grow most of my plants in a home mixed potting mix based on coco coir and pumice. I am experimenting with mycorrhizal fungi and it has been very successful so far. They come as a powder or liquid and they grow a beneficial mycelium that forms a partnership with the roots, trading nutrients for sugars produced by the plant. It's what happens in natural ecosystems and it forms the so called wood-wide-web in forests. Happy plants!

you should try the pink Osmocote slow release fertilizer. I in sprinkle 5-20 little pellets, depending on pot size, into my leca when i’m repotting. osmocote is a complete fertilizer and the pink one also has micronutrients. you’ll never have to mix nutrient solution again.

Good to know. I'm far too lazy to do this three-nutrient system. I've been using DynaGro Foliage pro for all my plants including anything I have in leca. But the pellets is also a great idea! Thanks.

we have GT foliage focus in aus, its so good, maybe it is in other countries now but it wasnt before. its just one product, all 12 vitamins for plants, and rootzone you use sporadically to fertilize and support root growth. hopefully youre able to access it !
@kyrad6543
@kyrad6543 3 года назад
Yes, you will like Foliage-Pro. I've been using it for more than 12 years for all my plants. I've tried other fertilizers but always return to that one. It can be used for soil or semi-hydro so it's a multi-use product. Plus the bottle lasts forever. Let me know how it goes!

I think you're proving that we don't know the extent of how many plants we can propagate/grow on in leca.
@reneeprince6790
@reneeprince6790 3 года назад
I also take cuttings but I propagate in leca and it works really well. My plants were transferred this winter, not a smart move, but I only lost about three plants. Some of my phal orchids like leca and some began to rot. Now those are in water culture so I can check on the roots and are recovering nicely. I’m enjoying watching my plants growth in leca this spring. Thanks for your videos 🌱

Hi! Love the video so far. But you just mentioned calatheas can't be water propagated. I'm not sure about this, as I've propagated leuconora and kerchenova with node cuttings in water. Did you mean any specific ones? 🤔

My pathos after leca and water in glass big bottle the leaves are big than it was in soil. My Lily bloomed in the middle in glass bottle so surprise. I do not put any fertilizer. I wash bottle and leca in Hydrogen peroxide and wash roots and put back every 3 weeks. they are all healthy.

I like your style of video. I can feel your love and passion to your plants. Maybe that's why they are growing so well. Have you tried using Leca for pilea peperomioidea?

Good luck with your Aglaonema Chocolate. I discovered mine had root rot from underwatering it. I'm still trying to stabilize it. I actually think I might have to downsize the pot a bit more. I had a terrible time propagating a couple of the stems that lost their roots. Hopefully it works for you! Also, I'm glad I'm not the only one that think the PPP has a weird growth patttern! Haha.

I've transferred my manjula from soil to lecca but I only tapped the soil off, transferred, and allowed it to acclimate for 3-4 days with no water in a grown tent, then I'd add a little water and let it run through, drain, and once a week I'd water it but let drain through. After two weeks it developed water roots. I'd then use very diluted nutrient water but let it run through the drain so still no reservoir... A month after I started to leave a very small amount of nutrient water... The rest is history

How is it possible that all your moss poles are so tall and sturdy? How did you stabilize it to the Leca?
@BeesHouseofPlants
@BeesHouseofPlants 3 года назад
They go all the way to the bottom, and i think because of the material it can stand on it's own. I think I'll add a support pole if I make another extension but I've never really had any problems with it!

just wanted to tell you I appreciate your style of video! One of my pet peeves are the millions of cuts and edits because people can't finish their sentences. Your videos make me feel like I'm in the same room learning from you :) I use aquarium water in my set up and haven't started feeding yet. What are the signs to look out for if my plants are nutrient deprived? Slowly transitioning plants to leca!
@BeesHouseofPlants
@BeesHouseofPlants 3 года назад
Thank you!! The most obvious sign of lack of nutrients is when your plant loses a leaf every time it's trying to put out a new leaf. But also slow growth, and depending on what nutrient is lacking you can also get different kinds of yellowing leaves.
